This map is also know as the
"Matrix Level". If you were big Matrix fans like us (or
even if you weren't) you probably noticed that in the bottom
level the room with the elevator and the pillars on the left and
right is exactly the same as the room in Matrix where at the end
where they have a huge battle in the pillars and then after it's
all done they take the elevator! Anyway, Grid is a well-designed
map that has the perfect mixture of open areas and short
corridors. Most of the games in this level are fun and fast.
Because of the size of this map (and only 10 player re-spawn
points) you probably don't want to have TOO many players!
This elevator should be avoided at
all costs especially when playing with explosives. The
doors of the elevator provide no shield against
explosives, so many people will like to kill you while
you're riding the elevator (Challenge 15 for example)! If
you do take the chance of riding it, remember to turn 180
degrees to exit!
This is the ideal room to take
over, especially during a Hold the Briefcase scenario
with teams. There are only two entrances to this area, so
just have one person guard one and the other guard the
other! The number 3 weapon slot is in this room and
should be more than enough for your ammo needs.
One of the biggest keys in Grid is
the elevation. You always want to be on top. If you are
on top (like in this picture for example) and you are
playing with explosives, keep shooting like crazy when
you see an enemy and they will almost die for sure!
This is the main area of the level
and is where most of the action has. There usually are a
lot of people here all the time, so before entering make
sure to get stocked up on weapons and ammo!
This is right above the room above
(D). As I said, there are always people in that room, so
if you are up here it could be snipers delight. Sitting
up here can get you 4 or 5 kills without even being
noticed!
If someone else has control of
this room and you want control (for example during a Hold
The Briefcase scenario) then you should probably try
getting a teammate to rush this room at the same time you
do from the opposite end.
This hallway is one of the few
ways to get up and down the stairs, so booby trap it
well. If you're playing with Proximity Mines then make
sure to set them everywhere, and if you have the Laptop
Gun make sure to put a sentry turret somewhere like on
the wall opposite of the door!
This back area can set up some
good ambushes during team games. Because it is about
twice as wide but only half as long as the main area, you
should use the pillars for cover.
This is a VERY common re-spawn
point in the level. If you re-spawn here (I should say
when) immediately get the number 1 or 2 slot weapons.
This is a level where you DO NOT want to be stranded with
no weapons!
