Bryan Hitch on The Authority
Allow a man, old, bent and sore before his time, a few moments of reminiscence. In no particular order, I remember Wolfman and Perez' Teen Titans, Don Newton's Batman, anything by Garcia Lopez, John Byrne's Fantastic Four, and Walt Simonson's Thor. There was Frank Miller's Dark Knight, Allan Moore's Swamp Thing, Alan Davis' first run at Excalibur and Curt Swan's final days on Superman. Gil Kane popped up now and again at D.C. John Romita was just getting his teeth into Daredevil, and Barry Windsor-Smith was making a welcome return to Marvel. There was the big boom and crash of the 90's, the start of Image, Sin City, Hellboy, and creator ownership on an unprecedented scale.

Some of the above made me want to do this silly job in the first place, the rest remind me why I still do. Along with Warren, Paul and Laura, I'm having the most fun of my twelve year career so far and I hope it shows.

Whilst you read the rest of this would-be letters page, I shall retire to my great leather armchair in the smoking lounge, open a bottle Chardonnay, swallow a slow-release capsule and enjoy my archive copy of Razzle for 1953.

God Save the Queen.
