Manufacturing

The build option allows you to construct other buildings and installations from the construction yard. Ships are build using shipyards and troops are trained using training facilities. The build action works in the same way for all of these. You can only build an item if you have the required amount of maintenance for that item. If construction is in progress and you run out of maintenance points then the job will merely be put on hold.

Note: Use the GID to show idle shipyards, construction yards and training facilities.

Sometimes items cannot be built for many reasons, here are but a few:

  • You may not have the required amount of maintenance points or refined materials to construct the item. To find out the number of points required look the object up in the encyclopedia. You may need to build more mines and refineries.
  • Your planet which contains the construction facility may be under blockade. Send a fleet to battle the opposing fleet or just wait until they move on.
  • Your planet containing construction facilities may be in uprising. Items cannot be constructed on a planet that is in uprising. Either send a special team to subdue the uprising or increase the garrison on that planet.

Here are a few tips to constructing items quickly and efficiently:

  • Try to keep construction facilities close to your front line as the hyperdrive time can vastly delay much needed items if the construction facilities are on the outer rim. Use the outer rim sectors mainly for mines and refineries.
  • Try to find planets with huge energy resources for your facilities. Eight or nine construction facilities on one planet can speed construction up greatly.
  • When advanced construction yards, shipyards and training facilities have been researched try to replace the older facilities to speed up production. A faster production line may mean the difference between victory and defeat.
