Pictures of My Stitching

Lucky U, I dont have pictures of all Ive done, but here are some :-)

tn .jpg of 3D butterflies In my younger years, I was on a butterfly kick. I actually thought of being an entomologist, til I realized itd B more like biologys disecting insides than collecting pretty insects outsides. So many of my original projects were of butterflys! Wool yarn & floss were used for this 17" X 21" NP picture in 1976.

tn .jpg of NP Masonic emblem I made this NP Masonic emblem for my daddy :-) Here are the meanings of the symbols on it :
BLUE has been esteemed since antiquity as a beneficent color, denoting immortality, eternity, chastity and fidelity. It is the color of Symbolic Masonry, "the Blue Lodge."
COMPASSES, the proper Masonic emblem of the Craft, and one of the Great Lights in Freemasonry
RAYS or Glory, symbolic of the power of the Supreme Being to penetrate the innermost reaches of the human heart.
Within the star is the letter "G," a well-known symbol of Freemasonry representing both God and geometry.
SQUARE is the proper Masonic Jewel of the Master of the Lodge. It is one of the Great Lights in Freemasonry. It is the stonemason's square of two equal arms.

tn .jpg of stained glass This was one of the first projects I did which had its picture taken. Because of its antique & religious flavor, I gave it to my sister. I am a stained glass fan, but it went better in her Victorian house, than with my modern style. Its finished size is 8" X 36". I did it in the 1980s.
A more detailed image is shown if U click on the picture displayed here.
tn .jpg of my 1rst design I NPed this picture in 1985. Its dimensions R 14" X 8". It was my first venture out to designing on my own. On graph paper I made the image of a pamphlet front that had caught my eye. I gave this to my sister. It currently is in her puter/sewing/reading/hobby room.

tn .jpg of NeedlePunch owl Here is a time I varied from my NP & XS, trying NeedlePunch. Little did I kno that years later a Sister-In-Law to-be would B on an owl kick. So guess where the owl is now? Ive done afew other NeedlePunch items. This, my first one, was done in 1985. The next one was in 1990.

tn .jpg of Christmas tree skirt Cant say I'm embarrassed to have done this masterpeice :-) I NPed the tree skirt in 1986. It is 43" across. Now, my Sister uses it annually under a Christmas tree. What appears to B a lighter blue BackGround at the bottom & around the moon, is actually a mix of 2 blues. In the picture, the skirt is displayed on a variegated wood floor.

big .gif of Christmas tree skirt Cant say I'm embarrassed to have done this one :-) In 1986 I NPed it. Now, my Sister uses it annually under a Christmas tree. Its 43" across. In the picture, the skirt is displayed on a wooden stripped floor, so the brown stripes Rnt part of the skirt. What appears to B a lighter blue BackGround at the bottom, is actually a mix of 2 blues.

tn .jpg of NP sampler of sign language I designed this one totally on my own. It was a combination of 2 of my hobbies : stitching & signing. Being as attached to NP & signing as I am, I still havent parted w/ the picture, thinking just maybe I'll B the lucky one who keeps it. If I ever do find that perfect person who deserves it, I doubt theyll kno what a magnaminous compliment my giving it to them is! Its finished size is 17" X 17". I completed it in 1988.

tn .jpg of NP blown tree in desert I definitely had to do this one. It 'called to me' in multiple ways. I still have this one is in my house.
This NP picture seems to exhibit softness altho it has linear design & textured stitches.

tn .jpg of NP picture of my favorite pup Over the years, I have designed & NPed pictures of each pup I have had. Also afew for friends. Not only did I have photos of them to use as guidelines, but I looked at their live faces when drawing the patterns. Being my 'children', they R all on display in the hall :-)
Here only 1 is displayed, but there R 3 in the closeup U get by clicking on this picture.
tn .jpg of Neuschwanstein castle This XS is of 1 of King Ludwigs castles. I gave it to a Brother-In-Law who likes not only Germany, but old things. After I completed the stitching in the early 1990s, he put it in an oval frame. A great touch, I think! The stitched part is 11" X 9".

tn .jpg of Lattice Evening bag I ventured out from the many 2D picture projects Id done B4 to this 3D NP evening bag in 1992. Its dimensions R 2"D X 6"W X 4.5"H. I made it w/ my sister in mind. The kit was an elegant one from Winterthur. The design for the purse was derived from a roller-printed fabric (1820-1825) of English textiles. It also exemplifies the 'pillar & floral' patterns that were popular at the time.

tn .jpg of XS Earth Angel This was my first XS on linen. It is L&Ls 'Earth Angel'. I gave the stitched fabric to my Sister. Her DH put it in a uniquely shaped frame that is above an attached mirror. The picture truely depicts how we R 'in her hands'.
Including difficult to C stars under the ribbon & to the left of the earth, the stitched part is 10" X 10".

tn .jpg of XS 3 Kings in the East This XS 'From The East' I finished in early 1995 & gave as a belated present for Christmas 1994. I loved the black aida background! Never had I worked on it B4. The pictures finished size is 16" X 8".

tn .jpg of NP PowderRoom I gave this NPed PowderRoom sign to a Sister-In-Law. :-) She, as many others, likes antiques, so it fit right in her decor. Where as, it just didnt go w/ my SW motif. Its finished size is 14" X 8". I completed it after 1995.
A more detailed image is shown if U click on the picture shown here.
tn .jpg of NP picture in modern motif Being a fan of modern, linear decor myself, I made this w/ me in mind. But, I gave it away to another modern-loving friend. The NP picture shows boldness via its color, design & textured stitches.

tn .jpg of XS wolf in the woods This XS Timber Wolves shows the nobel, elusive, once common, but now endangered species prowling the forest w/ majestic beauty. The designer of this picture, Al Agnew, is a native of the Missouri Ozarks. He captures a true sense of being 1 w/ nature in his works of wild beauty & natural subject matter. His aim is to remind us to take a moment from the many distractions to admire all the worlds majestic beauty in the form of wildlife & the continuance of their preservation & existence.

tn .jpg of NP SW picture Since I also go for South Western decor, this one is in my home. Much Native American art is another example of linear art, as I go for! This NP picture shows boldness mainly by its color, linear design, & textured stitches.

tn .jpg of NP eyeglass case horizontally I made this NPed eyeglass case for myself. Not only did its SW design strike my fancy & did I need it, but it would require no sewing! A zipper was already sewn on to close the case. To this day, its still in my use. I did it in 1993.
Then in 2000, I did my first hand-painted NP project. It was an eyecase for an AOL friend in England. It was professionally finished after I did solely the NPing.
Here only 1 is displayed, but both R in the closeup U get by clicking on this picture.
tn .jpg of XS Angel Of Love The XS angel intrigued me because of her body looking so much like the insides of a computer. This luminous beauty of complex circuitry was my last linen project. Its designer, of whom Im sure many of U kno, is Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum. She does many spectacular angelical portraits. The design area is 9 3/4" X 17 1/2".

different NP stitches intermeshed This shows different NP stitches used together. Another neat thing is that it appears as tho the colors of the #s sho thru each other! I made this picture for a young boy, a GNephew, learning his numbers.

big .jpg of NP Alaskan totem pole The summer of 1998, I was in Alaska &, surprisingly, encountered a stitching store. Immediately I knew 1 souvenir from the trip HAD to B from there. So, the NP totem pole, it was! Granted, Im going against my rules by this one not being framed B4 starting the next, but I have an excuse for that. I have 2 NP Eskimo kits I plan on doing after all the things I must do first, & having the 3 B framed alike. I dont want to take the chance of framing 1 now & by the time the other 2 R completed, that exact frame is nowhere to B found.

tn .jpg of XS Northern Lights This XS shows 2 white wolves near the North Pole w/ a big star-filled sky above them & afew pines in the background. The wolves R on rocky territory & surrounded by sno. Vaguely, U can make out a 3rd wolf in the sky depicting the Northern Lights. My husband loves the portrayl, being the natural-fan he is

tn .jpg of NP stocking w/ name JUD embroidered on it Here is a stocking I NPed for my best online friend. It was finished in time for Santa to fill Christmas 1999. ;-) You can't see them, but there is a name embroidered at the top, metallic stars as buckles on both of Santa's boots, & other metallic stars in the sky. The overall look of this stocking is to portray an ole time Santa w/ animals in the snow.

tn .jpg of NP stocking for a GreatNephew Here is the first stocking I made for 1 of my Sisters GrandChildren. It is NPed. The normality of the setting is shown by the haphazard green ribbons on the present at the large teddys foot, which points to helter-skelter unwrapping having taken place. What kids, or adults for that matter, open their presents in a cautious way? Not many! It is furthermore depicted by the little boys PJ behind flap being only 1/2 closed LOL He just couldnt wait to see all the goodies Santa brought him. But the demureness of the adult world is shown by the symmetrical way the ornamnents are arranged on the tree.
But doesnt the kid come out to some degree in all of us at Christmastime?

tn .jpg of XS stocking for GreatNiece Having done stockings for all GreatNephews, my GNiece should get the same treatment! Here is the stocking I XSed for her. The GNephews were NPed. Her GrandMother, my sister, sewed it, so you could say that all GNs stockings are team work :-) It was first used for Christmas 2000, at her other GrandMothers house. It was made on aida w/ floss, cotton embroidery thread, metallic thread, metal images, & glass beads. Along with for BackStitching, the embroidery thread was used to tac the metal images in place.
The stocking is 16" diagonally from rim top to toe bottom. But, if U kno me, I remained as I always am : FrenchKnots were replaced by beads. The overall look of this stocking is to portray an ole time Santa w/ many Christmas goodies.

tn .jpg of NP stocking for Sister-in-Law This one came as a surprise to my Sister-In-Law. She never knew it was coming, til it came! LOL I NPed this 'Angel of Serenity' stocking for her. Granted, I missed Christmas 2000 by a month, but she will B more than happy to use it in 2001 & thereafter :-)
Different than average, this kit supplied beads, in place of asking for just FrenchKnots to B used on it.
The stocking is 16" diagonally from rim top to toe bottom.

tn .jpg of NP stocking for my DH Here is a stocking I NPed for my husband. It was finished in time for Santa to fill Christmas 2001. Granted, he was a tad older than a little boy, but it made him fit right in w/ the others in my immeadiate family & their stockings to have one of his own. :-) I enjoyed making this stocking because it was mainly special stitches & a bold geometric design. Not a million individual stitches of a color far from the next use of that color. The only conventional Continental stitch was the white around his name.
