The Planets!

One night, about a month ago, my friend Cory (Corlito!) and I were outside on my porch, sipping beer and talking about the things only guys can talk about. After about an hour or so, our conversation turned to religion. He is decidedly Catholic, I am Wiccan, but we were both angry about some of the things done in God's name. War, hatred, torture and all in the name of "My god is different then your god". WHY? What made his god better then mine? What was so different? Isnt your god all about loving? Isnt your god all about providing? Isnt your god everywhere? In everthing? This is what we agreed on.

The nature of Deity is that it is everywhere and everything. It is in you and me, between the rocks and the trees. The individual atoms that make up our bodies are Deity. The oxygen atom that just helped my hair cell grow could have been the same atom that a dinosaur flea once breathed in. The physical, the supernatural, the spiritual are all connected to Deity. We are all connected to each other through Deity. Deity is all encompassing.

Now, whether you believe that Deity is a God or Goddess or anything in between is entirely your choice. The entire act of worship by any religion brings us all one step closer to Deity.

One of the great gifts Deity has given us is beauty. It is all around us, in the sunrise, in the rain, but recently Cory and I have found new beauty in the heavens themselves. My father in law lent me his telescope and we have been gazing up ever since. Im sure you have seen many rainbows and mountains in pictures, but when you are actually standing on a mountainside, looking at a rainbow, do you feel real joy. I have seen MANY pictures of the planets in our solar system, but until I saw Jupiter, with my own eyes, I had no idea how wonderful the skies were.
