In forested areas he may cast a variant of the 1st-level priest spell analyze balance at will. This variant works on characters, creatures, objects, or on part of the forest itself. If used on people, creatures, or objects, it functions just as the normal spell. When used on a part of the forest, this ability allows a Mielikkian ranger to detect if the ecology of the forested area is seriously disrupted.

Weapons of Proficiency: All blades, composite long bow, weapon/shield style.

Equipment: 3 bunches of wolfsbane; 2 vials of holy water; Khalreshaar holy symbol; 3 weeks rations and 2 waterskins; 50? of hemp rope, with a iron grappling hook; flint & steel; stakes made of various woods, burnt oak, and stone; 10 torches; a whetstone and rags; a bed roll; plus a quiver with 20 sheaf arrows.

Magical Items: Black studded leather armor +3 with charred iron studs, boots of elvenkind, a long bow +1 and 12 sheaf arrows +1, a ring of protection +1, a long sword +2, a short sword +1, and a large shield +1.

Combat/Tactics: A typical warrior, Barakus rushes into battle with blade and shield, unless outnumbered, whereupon he sheds his shield in favor of a short sword to accompany his long sword. Barakus?s species enemy are giants, against them he gains both a +4 to hit, and a -4 reaction penalty to all encounters with them.

Allies/Companions: His little brother, Tannus Blade; his cousin, Jordon "Piper" Silverblade; his aunt, Cylindria Blade; his "uncle", Valkor Silvertree; Coleman; Kala Ravensclaw; Kylan Bloodbringer; Maelstrom; Naerdromisc the black; Strickler.

Foes/Enemies: All evil beings, especially giants and the undead.

Appearance: Barakus is a large man with black hair and grren eyes. As a needle of Khalreshaar, he wears studded black leather armor. Barakus is an alluring man of 25 years of age that stands 6?8? and weighs a large 259 pounds. Other than the above armor, he wears simple clothing and a Khalreshaar holy symbol secured to his armor.

Personality: Barakus is an outspoken man who rarely lies. He hates bullies and puts them in their place whenever he can. Furthermore, he judges people by their actions and is loyal and courageous to the point of stupidity. Having charged a drow procession to allow escape of the others, even striking the high priestess; needless to say this was the act that lead to his demise.

Barakus bears a deep hatred for giants.

Experience Points: 19,750.

Locales Frequented: The North, especially the High Forest.

Motivations/Goals: To help others live in tune with nature and destroy all those would would harm or despoil it.

Campaign Uses: A strong ranger, Barakus can be used as a guide of the High Forest or a goodly traveler of the North.
