Equipment: Nalzi carries great gear for his survival, consisting of: a deluxe backpack, climbing spikes and clawed gloves, a signet ring depicting the Bloodbringer symbol, clothing enough for 3 days, 100� of hemp rope and a folding grappling hook, 5 torches, flint & steel in a waterproof iron case, 2 wineskins, and a small sealed stein of ale, 2 weeks of dry rations complete with spices from home, a few days of cheese, mutton and bread, extra straps and an armor cleaning kit, a whetstone, a few cleaning rags, a small tent, a spyglass, a small pot, plate, cup and utensil set, and 3 winter blankets.

Nalzi also carries the following monies: 500 gold pieces and 2,500 gp worth of gemstones, hidden about his body in batches of 500 gp value, with a 1,000 gp gem in his boot (a secret heel compartment).

Magical Items: Spine Shank, 10 heavy crossbow bolts +2, everbright dwarven wrought chain mail +2 (+8 to item saving throws), boots of the north, and the following potions: healing, polymorph self, and sweet water.

Combat/Tactics: As a master specialist in the heavy crossbow, Nalzi gains a +2 bonus to hit at any range, and the point-blank range category; point-blank range extends out to 60 feet. Thus, he likewise gains a +3 bonus to hit and to damage rolls against any target at point-blank range. In addition, he shares the archer�s quick-shot benefit when covering an enemy. In addition, Nalzi is so very fast with his crossbow that he only has a 6 speed factor with the awesome weapon!

Nalzi tends to weigh the odds before committing to combat, considering weaknesses and opportunities that may be exploited to his best advantage. Although once engaged, he will fight to eliminate his opponents as quickly as possible, by any means, however ruthless or underhanded. In any given situation, Nalzi knows what has to be done and does it, ruthlessly and efficiently. He takes only calculated risks, and is never foolhardy.

Appearance: Nalzi is an old dwarf who has seen 254 winters and is 4�7� inches in height and weighs a dense 174 pounds. He is set apart from other dwarves by the care he lovingly, lavishes on his crossbow and bolts. His crossbow is made of the finest materials and the butt is inlaid with intricate patterns surrounding a huge darkened steel emblem of clan Bloodbringer, and all of his bolts are kept at razor sharpness.

Personality: A pragmatist, Nalzi is very gruff and taciturn, although sometimes among good companions he can be seen as more open, and rarely, even happy. In negotiation, he pushes for the best deal, but he also knows when he has achieved all he can.

Locales Frequented: Silverymoon and the North in its great expanses.

Motivations/Goals: To gain prominence once more for clan Bloodbringer. Nalzi, as one of the only surviving members, has a job of integrating into another clan or revitalizing his own, to ensure their place in the Realms.

Campaign Uses: Nalzi is a great marksman and a natural leader, however, a stern professional; he is a useful member of any group, as he can kill off many enemies from afar.

Unique Abilities/Items:

  • Sharpshooter: As a dwarven sharpshooter, Nalzi is a master in the heavy crossbow, plus he receives an additional +1 to hit with his chosen weapon. Furthermore, he can fire faster than any other crossbow specialist, although this only comes into effect with more experience. When his own weapon and sharpened bolts are in use, a he inflicts extra damage, causing 1d6+1 damage vs. small-medium sized creatures and 1d8+1 damage vs. large sized creatures with his well-maintained crossbow and bolts.
