June 26, 1993   Four Rebels players are chosen in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft in Quebec City.  Pete Leboutillier (New York Islanders - 6th round),  Darren Van Impe (New York Islanders - 7th round), Sean Selmser (Pittsburgh Penguins - 7th round), and newly acquired Mike Barrie (Buffalo Sabres - 9th round)

June 30, 1993   The CHL holds its second annual Import Draft, the Rebels selecting 21st do not participate.

July 6, 1993   Head Coach Peter Anholt turns down an offer to coach the Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League (Hartford Whalers top farm team)

August 11, 1993   The Rebels announce they will sponsor the Red Deer AAA Bantam Rebels Hockey Team for the 1993-94 season.

August 20, 1993  Pat Garritty is hired as the Club’s new Ticket Sales Representative, taking over for Tod Engelhart who is leaving the team.

August 22, 1993  Red Deer’s second training camp opens with 90 players registering for rookie camp (1977 and 1978 born players)

August 24, 1993  Registration for main camp opens with 100 players registering.

August 27, 1993  Mike Barrie scores four goals as the Whites defeat the Blacks 9-2 in the inter-squad game

August 28, 1993  The Lethbridge Hurricanes defeat the Rebels rookies 9-3 in an exhibition game in Lethbridge

September 12, 1993  The City of Red Deer secures the 1995 World Junior Hockey Championships

September 15, 1993  The Rebels finish their six game exhibition schedule with a 2-3-1 record.

September 26, 1993   Before their fourth career sell-out (6,021) Red Deer gives up a 4-1 third period lead and loses 5-4 in overtime to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in their regular season opener.

October 1, 1993  All-Star Defenseman Darren Van Impe is returned to the Rebels from Salt Lake City of the International Hockey League (New York Rangers top farm team)

October 3, 1993  Goaltender Jason Clague makes 24 saves in earning the Club’s first ever shutout in a 5-0 victory over the Saskatoon Blades.

October 23, 1993  Head Coach Peter Anholt records his 200th career WHL Coaching victory in Regina (6-4 win)

October 30, 1993  Red Deer acquires 20 year old forward Brad Zimmer from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for future considerations.

November 10, 1993  The Rebels suffer their worst defeat ever by losing 13-1 in Portland to conclude a four game West Division road trip.

November 15, 1993  The City of Kamloops is awarded the 1995 Memorial Cup outbidding Red Deer, Regina, Saskatoon, and Lethbridge.

November 20, 1993  Red Deer suffers its team record fifth consecutive loss 3-2 at home to the Prince Albert Raiders.  It also marked the Rebels team record fourth consecutive loss at the Centrium.  Earlier in the day the Club traded 19 year old center Mike Barrie to the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for 18 year old center Tyler Quiring and future considerations.

November 21, 1993  Newly-acquired Tyler Quiring scored two goals in his first game as a Rebel, including one 21 seconds into the game to help snap the Club’s five game losing streak by defeating the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-3.

December 1, 1993  Darren Van Impe scores his second career hat trick and also chips in with two assists to lead the Rebels to a 7-6 overtime win over the Medicine Hat Tigers.  It is the second time in Van Impe’s Red Deer career that he has scored five points in a game.  He will equal the five point feat one more time this year.

December 6, 1993  The Club completes the Mike Barrie trade by acquiring 19 year old center Neil Johnston from the Seattle Thunderbirds .  Johnston was traded to Seattle from Moose Jaw earlier in the day.

December 28, 1993  Red Deer records its fifth career sell-out (6,391) and records its first ever win when the Centrium is full by defeating the Lethbridge Hurricanes 7-5.  Curtis Cardinal leads the Rebels by scoring two goals nine seconds apart (club record) in the third period.

January 1, 1994  The Rebels record their team record eighth road win of the season in Swift Current as Tyler Quiring records his first career hat trick leading Red Deer to a 5-3 win.

January 2, 1994  Tyler Quiring sets a club record by scoring six assists, and seven points (1-6-7) in one game to lead the Rebels to their most decisive road win ever by defeating the Regina Pats 10-4.  Craig Reichert also tied a club record by scoring four goals in one game.

January 3, 1994  Tyler Quring becomes the first Red Deer player to be named WHL Player of the Week.  Quiring scored 16 points (7-9-16) in five games to win the award.

January 7, 1994  Red Deer records its third largest crowd and sixth career sell-out, but lose 4-1 to the Saskatoon Blades.

January 9, 1994  The Rebels suffer their worst home ice defeat in two years by losing 8-2 to the Swift Current Broncos.

January 28, 1994  Craig Reichert breaks the club record by scoring his 19th power play goal of the year to help defeat the Brandon Wheat Kings 8-1 in the Club’s second most decisive win ever.

February 2, 1994  Craig Reichert becomes the second Red Deer player in a month to be named WHL Player of the Week by scoring nine points in two games (4-5-9).  Reichert also becomes the first Rebels player to be named East Division Player of the Month for January (13-16-29 in 14 games in January.

February 4, 1994  Red Deer records its second largest crowd and four sell-out of the 1993-94 season (6,476) by earning their only tie of the season with the Portland Winter Hawks (2-2).

February 20, 1994  Red Deer records their fifth sell-out of the year (6,021), but still lose 5-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds.

February 25, 1994  Red Deer records it’s most decisive victory ever by defeating the Moose Jaw Warriors 9-0 at the Centrium.  Goaltender Jason Clague makes 22 saves in earning the Club’s and his second career shutout.

February 27, 1994  Craig Reichert becomes only the second Red Deer player to score 100 points in a season by scoring 3 assists in a 5-3 loss in Lethbridge.

March 5, 1994   Defenseman Darren Van Impe (Best Defenseman Trophy), and Director of Operations Jeff Chynoweth (Marketing/Public Relations Award) are named East Division nominees for their respective awards.

March 12, 1994  The Rebels set a Club record by winning their third consecutive road game 7-3 in Swift Current.  Red Deer scores a team record five power play goals.

March 18, 1994  Red Deer records its team record fifth win a row by defeating the Moose Jaw Warriors 10-9.  The win in front of the sixth sell-out of the season (6,111) clinched a playoff spot in the East Division for the second year in a row.  Craig Reichert broke the team record for most points in one season by recording his 112th point of the year.

March 20, 1994  The Rebels close out their second regular season in the WHL by defeating the Lethbridge Hurricanes 8-7.  Craig Reichert breaks the Club record for most goals in one year by scoring 52.  Red Deer finishes the regular season with a 35-36-1 record and in sixth place in the East Division.  The Rebels set a Club record by winning 8 of 10 games in the month, including five of seven on the road.  Red Deer draws 181,899 fans (5,053) average to their 36 home games, an increase of over 16,000 from the inaugural 1992-93 campaign.

March 21, 1994  The Rebels held their second annual awards dinner at the Red Deer Lodge.  Craig Reichert (Top Scorer, and MVP), and Darren Van Impe (Top Defenseman, and Three Star Award) are the big winners.

March 22, 1994  Defenseman Darren Van Impe is named to the East Division First All-Star Team for the second year in a row.  Both Van Impe and Director of Hockey Operations Jeff Chynoweth, however, are shutout for their respective league awards.

March 28, 1994  Trailing the East Division Quarter-Final two games to none to the Lethbridge Hurricanes, the Rebels avoid elimination with a 4-2 victory.  Goaltender Jason Clague becomes the first goaltender in WHL playoff history to score a goal in a game (game winner).  It was Red Deer’s first ever home playoff victory.

March 29, 1994  Red Deer’s second season comes to an end by losing 6-5 in Game Four of the East Division Quarter Final to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

April 28, 1994   Selecting ninth overall, the Rebels take center Mike Brown with their first pick in the 1994 WHL Bantam Draft in Calgary.  In total, Red Deer selects nine 1979 born players.

May 20, 1994   After completing his first season as Head Coach of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL, Rebels majority owner Terry Simpson is fired.  In August he is once again named Assistant Coach of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets.
