August 12, 1991 The Western Hockey League Board of Governors approve an expansion franchise under the ownership of Terry Simpson to the City of Red Deer for the 1992-93 season.
August 27, 1991 Director of Operations, Jeff Chynoweth is hired from the Lethbridge Hurricanes as the Rebels first ever employee.
October 1, 1991 The team sets up a temporary office in the basement of the city’s Recreation and Culture Building while the Centrium offices are being completed.
October 7, 1991 Name Bev Krausher Office Manager and Al Confransisco as Head Scout. Unveil “Name The Team” contest.
October 17, 1991 Over 1,000 entries are submitted in the one week campaign to name the team. The top three choices were: Rebels, Renegades, and Centrurions. Management felt the name “Rebels” would best fit the color scheme of Black, Silver, and White.
October 26, 1991 The “Alpha Milk Select-A-Seat Day” results in just under 2,000 season tickets being sold for the inaugural 1992-93 season in one four hour period.
November 18, 1991 Unveil team logo (designed by All-Canadian Emblem in Winnipeg) and announce merchandise items will be available for Christmas.
January 3, 1992 Announce CKRD Radio 7 will be the official broadcast station of the Rebels for three seasons.
February 5, 1992 The Rebels select their first ever player in the annual WHL Bantam Draft in Saskatoon - Defenseman Mike McBain from Kimberly B.C.
May 27, 1992 Red Deer takes 15 players (one from each existing WHL Team) in phase two of the WHL Expansion Draft. The most notable player being defenseman Darren Van Impe from the Prince Albert Raiders.
