At the observatory, Bart hears a signal from outer space but his friend
O'Henry, also the man in charge, says it's nothing. Not giving up he
uses the satellite dishes in his area to find the signal again - with
the result that Shirley's now on the case too (the TV interruption
caught her attention). When two agent show up and a background check
on O'Henry reveals that he's not the man he claims to be it's clear
that something's wrong.

Stratmann now finds herself in the role of a persona non grata and

As a witness of a death threat against book author Constance Quick
(a dangerous spider was let loose on her) Shirley stays on the ball.
Shirley thinks that the target of Quick's book - rock singer Jake Bane,
whom she accuses of fake-singing - stands behind all that. And most
clues indeed point into that direction. Then she discovers that Ms.
Quick herself is a fake, feeding the possibility that this was done
as a promotion stunt - which isn't quite the case either.

When Bo is attacked and robbed off his clothes, Shirley - after finding
out that the attackers are female karate students - infiltrates the gang.

At the cafe Alicia is robbed, but only $10 bills are missing - which
the thief returns soon after. Other shops are targeted too, and
everywhere it's the same. So, the thief searches for a special $10 bill
- but who is it and why? Shirley and Bo track down the guy and soon
find themselves in the field of real-life spies and a woken-up sleeper
who'd rather like to sleep.

At a meeting for potential investors for a Rwandan ruby mine, Bo and
Shirley face off at opposite sides when she attends the meeting (for
obvious reasons) and Bo protests with others against child labor
practices (children are used as mine workers there). At the meeting
then an expensive ruby disapears and Mr. Crawford, the presenter,
blames (and sues) the 'Child Justice' group for this incident. To
find out more Shirley also relies on Pierre's help back in Rwanda -
and gets a clue that her mother might still be alive ...

and serves as a doctor in their camp. While Mr. Holmes tries the official
way to reach the rebel camp - the area is sealed by the regular army -
Shirley tries it on her own through the backdoor with the help of a
local boy.
