PURPOSE -
The aim of the module is to furnish the student
with the knowledge and skills required for the understanding
and design of modern advanced communication systems. |

INDICATIVE CONTENT - Microwave Radio
Systems:
Characteristics of microwave radio propagation -
losses, refraction, diffraction, Fresnel zones.
System engineering - frequency allocations, link
budget, aerial types and properties, diversity.
Satellite Systems:
Satellite orbits, Kepler elements. Noise, link budget,
figure of merit. Antenna systems. Satellite networks,
multiple access, FDMA, TDMA. Modulation systems,
BER calculations. Transponder.
Microwave Technology:
Microwave circuit techniques - transmission line
techniques, microstrip. Amplifiers, TWT, mixers,
oscillators.
Mobile communication systems. |
