Pokémon Red & Blue
In this helpful strategy article, we'll explore the first eight areas of the game, which are highlighted on the map below. We'll examine each area in turn and indicate vital clues and points of interest. We'll also profile the various Pokémon that can be found in each area and give you valuable tips on battling and collecting them.

The Pick of the Paks: Red & Blue
As you probably know, there are two versions of the Pokémon game: a Red version and a Blue version. Both versions contain the same game, but each has a slightly different set of Pokémon. The various Pokémon also appear in different ratios in each version. For example, Weedle are very common in the Red version but are much tougher to find in the Blue version.

Throughout this Strategy Guide, we'll tell how many Pokémon you can expect to find in each area in each version of the game.

To collect all 150 Pokémon, you must trade with someone who has the other version of the game. Use the Game Link cable to trade Pokémon and fight duels. Once you're linked, begin a game and visit a Cable Club in a Pokémon Center for instructions.
