What's on this page?

A Basic Overview

What I would like to do now, is to walk through the steps to paint a Brettonian knight. If you want to see more details on the specific section, just click on it. There are more categories at the end of this section as well as a short painting guide for each race.

  1. Prepare the figure for priming.
  2. Prime the figure.
  3. Paint basecoats.
  4. Wash the figure using Liquitex Paynes Gray. The surcoat gets washed with Liquitex Raw Sienna.
  5. Highlight the surcoat with Hippogriff Yellow.
  6. Paint the face and exposed flesh with Citadel Bronzed Flesh
  7. Wash the flesh with Citadel Chestnut Ink
  8. Highlight the face using Bronzed Flesh and some white.
  9. Pick out the eyes and teeth.
  10. Paint the sword hilt and helmet decorations Citadel Brazen Bronze.
  11. Paint the heraldry on the surcoat, I used a red chevron on both back and front. (If you've ever played Kingmaker, you will recognize this as the house of Stafford)
  12. Base the figure using Woodland Scenic railroad flocking.
  13. Seal with Krylon Crystal Clear sealant.
