Isabela State University Cabagan, Isabela (By Manuel Beltran)
Events in Cabagan
Section-by-Section Evangelism Almost 2000 high school students at Delfin Albano High School and heard the gospel in Cabagan, Isabela last October and November. Follow-up presents a challenge for the ministry. REACH was invited to speak about values after several REACH members at the school prayed to cast out spirits when several students exhibited bizarre behavior. REACH was given the 40-minute vacant period for every section from year one to year four. It took about two months to cover the 37 sections. Abel Saquing told students, "I am here to tell you about the Moral Recovery Program of the former president which is being supported by President Estrada." She told them it wasn't about a religion but a relationship with Christ as taught by God in the Bible.
Following up nearly 2000 decisions presents a challenge to the ministry which may require some adjustments in the structure of its high school ministry. Students filled out a response sheet after hearing the gospel to indicate an interest in a bible study and their available time. But most students were only available during office hours when most people in the ministry arc working. Jeffrey Beltran, Paring Saquing and Tcss Saquing, teach at the school, and are in contact with their students who made decisions. Available workers meet with three to four students. Highschoolers involved in the ministry are being en4stcd too. Abel says they are eager to follow up other students. Leaders are encouraging the highschoolers to teach what they know even if they are just a step ahead. Follow-up has centered on assurance- of salvation, answered prayer, forgiveness and guidance.A separate fellowship may be established for the Delfin Albano High School students because they feel ashamed to mix with students from the Science High School. A workshop on communicating the gospel preceded the outreach and visuals prepared that identified ii with the students' living conditions. Twenty attended the workshop. In most cases, teams of two shared the gospel so one could pray while the other talked. ................................ PRAYER CONCERNS
That the students would hunger for truth and righteousness. That no one would discourage the students from continuing in their commitments to the Lord.
