When I sat on the beach
staring at the Salem shore
my adolescent imagination
never came near
to figmentizing
the bundle of twin joys
I'd be toting on each hip
when I was thirty one,
with a toddling screamer
tugging at my skirt,
a four-year-old teaser
yanking down the
screamer's diaper
and a little lady of seven
posed at the kitchen sink
washing dishes
as if it were all
perfectly
normal.
