Here's a compendium of many of the songs you might hear from the North End. There's a lot here - and to be honest we don't sing all of these songs on any given day (or even during an entire season). There's a core group of songs (Bumble Bee Tuna, Molly Malone, etc) that you're likely to hear, and those are listed first - the farther down you get, the less likely you are to hear the song. Still, we're a bit like radio - this coming season we may latch onto a song and sing it like there's no tomorrow, and an old standard may be abandoned. You just never know with us ;-) Feel free to look around, print anything out, and sing it wherever.
As always, if you're a budding songsmith we'd love to hear from you - drop us a line with anything you've written. Better yet, show up in the North End and just start singing the song - just about everything we do has gotten its start that way).
Where possible, we've got sound clips of the song (in .wav format) either from a popular release of the song (like Bumble Bee Tuna) or of us singing it at a game (hopefully available soon).

North End Favorites
Here's a teaser - for those too lazy or busy to root through the entire songbook - of the songs and chants that tend to get used a bit more often. Like these? There's more in the full songbook - so get in there and start reading!
General Songs & Chants:
When The Crew Goes Marching In
done to the tune of "When The Saints Go Marching In" - as a call and response
Leader (spoken evenly): Oh When The Crew!
Group (screamed response): Oh When The Crew!
Leader (spoken evenly): Go March-ing In!
Group (screamed response): Go March-ing In!
Leader (spoken evenly): Oh When The -
All (the rest of the song is sung normally): - Crew Go Marching In!
Oh I want, to be, in that number,
When The Crew Go Marching In!
Bumble Bee Tuna
apparently the tune was originally an ad jingle for Bumble Bee Tuna - but we know it from a cover by the ska band Mephiskapheles
Yum Yum, Bumble Bee, Bumble Bee Tuna!
I love Bumble Bee, Bumble Bee Tuna!
Yum Yum, Bumble Bee, Bumble Bee Tuna!
Love a sandwich made with Bumble Bee!
Molly Malone
this is an old folk song that we've adopted - in general, you can get lyrics and some sample sound files for all the folk songs from mudcat.org
Here in this fair city,
Where the girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone!
As she rolled her wheel barrow,
Down streets wide and narrow,
Singing… (clap-clap-clap-clap) (clap-clap-clap-clap) (clap-clap)…GO CREW!
(the clap chants are on 1, 2, 2-and, 3 of a four beat measure)
Fitzy's Army
taken from the Irish by way of Sam's Army. The Irish use "Jackie's Army" for national manager Jack Charlton, Sam's Army used "Sampson's Army" in France. We use "Fitzy's Army" - at least for now.
We're all part of Fitzy's Army,
We're all out to win the league!
And we'll really shake 'em up when we win MLS Cup,
Because Columbus has the greatest football team!
Yellow Soccer Team
the Beatles tune - "Yellow Submarine". The first stanza is rarely used, to be honest - we normally just jump in with the main chorus.
In our town, we have a team
Its a Yellow Soccer Team.
In our town, we have a team
Its a Yellow Soccer Team
We all cheer for a yellow soccer team,
A yellow soccer team,
A yellow soccer team, HEY!
Chants & Cadences
You'll Never Beat Columbus
(Usually done right before a match)
Leaders: You'll never beat Columbus…..
All Others: OHIO!
(this is really a call-and-response chant - the first section is sing-song by a few people, and the "OHIO" is screamed by everyone within earshot)
Do that Thing!
one of many songs and chants we've picked up from the Shadowbox folks - the cadence is pretty straightforward.
Do that thing, where you put it in the other team's net!
OH YEAH!!
Time-Specific Songs & Chants
Beginning Of A Half:
Here We Go
the tune is "Stars and Stripes Forever" - and the song is sung immediately after any kickoff (and other times)
Here we go, here we go, here we go!
Here we go, here we go, here we go-oo!
After A Goal:
The Crew are Leading
sung whenever the Crew scores and is in the lead (not much point singing it when we're tied or losing, is there? The tune is "Battle Hymn of the Republic"
The Crew are leading (score) to (score)
Hoorah! Hoorah!
The Crew are leading (score) to (score)
Hoorah! Hoorah!
The Crew are leading (score) to (score)
How much more 'til the game is done?
And they'll all keep playing 'til the game is won!
One-Nil
tune is "Amazing Grace" - adjust to fit the actual score
One - nil, One - nil, One - nil, One - nil,
One - nil, One - nil, One - NIL!!!!!
When We Haven't Scored In A While:
We'll Score Again
modified from a song by Vera Lynn - "We'll Meet Again" - which was used at the end of the movie Dr. Strangelove
We'll score again; don't know where, don't know when.
But I know we'll score again, some sunny day!
Give Us a Goal
tune is "Give Peace a Chance", a 60's-era protest song
All we are saying, is Give Us a Goal!
one other trick we'll do on this is to sway back and forth, offset - so one row leans right while the ones behind and in front of them lean left.
