- 24th June 1998The Dr Martens League have succeeded in stopping Hastings Town from joining the Ruymans League. This will probably please members of the Ryman as it would have given many of them their longest trip of the season........
Secondly, Hastings next door neighbours, St Leonards Stamcroft have announced that Chairman Leon Sheppardson is to step down. He is to be replaced by local businessman John Cornelius but will remain behind the scenes at the club.
10th June 1998The Dr Martens League are trying to block Hastings Towns move to the Rymans League. The reason is unclear but Chairman Mark Gardiner (lottery winner and former co-owner of St Leonards Stamcroft) claims that they will still press ahead with the move owing to players being signed, season tickets being sold and sponsorships being secured on the strength of starting next season in the Rymans.

June 1998Dover Chairman John Husk has been re-elected to the Conference League Comittee. One of his first jobs will be to help choose the new sponsors following General Motors withdrawal.
Ramsgate have somehow found �3,000 to bid for Scott Appleton, one of last seasons Kent League top scorers in the same week that they have paid �15,00 to update their floodlights.
The Rymans League have given Hastings Town a list of tasks to complete at the Pilot Field before they can be accepted. Hastings insist that they will be met and follow Chelmsford City in a league switch.

- The
only real news to give away from the club at the moment
is the possible comings and goings of teams in the Dr
Martens League Southern Division.
- It
appears that departing will be Weymouth(promoted),
Chelmsford(promoted and moving to Rymans League),
Yate(relegated) and Cinderford(moving to Dr Martens
Midland).
- At the
moment it seems that the new boys will be Ashford,
Sittingbourne and St Leonards Stamcroft(relegated from Dr
Martens Premier), return of Folketone and Andover as well
as the newly formed Havant/Waterlooville merged side.
Dover have
secured the services of Ricky Reina, a signing that they claimed
would shock the footballing world!
Gillingham
look like they are going to struggle to keep hold of manager Tony
Pulis as Norwich City are interested in him.
