January 2003
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It seems that through each winter month
Mother nature sends us gifts.
She thinks we need exercise
shoveling the drifts.
I watched you through the kitchen window
digging through that drifted snow
then you stopped to contemplate.
There was no place for it to go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Too much snow on this flat roof.... Whew,I need a break....Finally done.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
seems the cars are buried again----Here comes the plow----there goes the plow
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
keeping all the roads
free of ice and snow
so they are accessible
if there's somewhere we must go.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have a variety of birds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
wild turkeys gathered all around
scratching at the frozen the ground
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some one is coming, better run
don't know if they have a gun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The guy with the gun has gone away
I think it's safe for us to stay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
chickadees & woodpeckers come every day to eat
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I watch them from our kitchen window,
such a pleasant treat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We supply the food
they supply the cheer
brightening up each gloomy day
this wintry time of year
