7

In our last study we have seen that our new generation in the year 2000 has their special difficulties to overcome. But how to overcome this difficulties, that is the question! One of the problems under the "new-millennium children" is how to anticipate and avoid or treat the danger of backsliding.

Reasons of backsliding:

It is important to know what can be the reason of spiritual backsliding or spiritual stagnation. There are some head points in this case:

Lack of knowledge, religious mixing, proud, fornication (Hos. 4:6,11-13; 7:8-10).

Occult influences, idolatry (Jes. 8:11-22; Ef. 4:14; Gal. 4:1).

Sectarianism, party-strife (1 Cor. 3:3).

Legalism, formalism and traditionalism (Gal. 4:9-11; 5:4; Heb. 5:13; Acts. 15:1; 1 Pet. 1:18).

Lack of holiness, love and devotion (1 Thes. 4:3; 1 Tim. 4:13-16; 1 Pet. 1:5-11).

Unbelieve and the working of the flesh (1 Cor. 2:14; Gal. 5;16-21).

Untruthful, mendacity, spiritual laziness (Jes. 29:13; Heb. 5:11,12).

Anxiety, solicitude (Marc. 4:19)

Philosophy (Col. 2:8).

False doctrine (2 Pet. 2:1-3; 2 Joh. Vs. 7-11).

Imperiousness (3 Joh. 9,10; Col. 2:18; 2 Cor. 11:20).

Trials (Heb. 12:1-15; 2 Tim. 3:11,12; 4:16; 1 Cor. 10:13; 2 Cor. 1;3-11; 4:8-5:10; 8:2).

Quarrels, spiritual war (1 Cor. 6:1-11; Gal. 5:15; Jes. 58:1-11; 1 Joh. 2:15).

Unobedience, lack of hope (Rom. 15:31, Acts 5:32; James 4:5; 1 Thes. 4:13-18).

Spiritual blindness (2 Pet. 1:5-11).

Dead, unfruitful works (Heb. 9:14; Rom. 6:6; Col. 3:3-11; 1 Cor. 8:7).

Unclean conscience (Heb. 10:22; Joh. 8:9).

May the Lord Jesus help us to overcome all this hindering for spiritual grow!

In a day of closing darkness,

When the outlook is so black,

When the hearts of men are failing,

And the feet of saints turn back,

When corruption spreads her mantle

O’er the minds, and ways of all,

When the violent doth prosper,

And men’s passions rise and fall,

When amid the gloom and darkness,

Shines one feeble ray of light -

Some, who feel and own the ruin,

Seek by faith to walk aright -

Some who fear the Lord of glory,

And who think upon His name -

Some, who often speak together

Of His glory and His shame,

Some who often round Him gather,

o exhort, and sing, and pray -

Some, who prove amid the darkness,

They are children of the day -

Some, who wait a coming Savior,

And who long His face to see -

Some, who wait their hope’s fruition,

Till conformed to Him they be.

God, Who dwells in heavenly glory,

He beholds this feeble few -

He records in His remembrance

All the sorrows they pass trough -

He discerns each true affection,

And declares, "They shall be Mine

When I gather up ‘MY JEWELS.’

These shall in My presence shine."
