Nonweapon Proficiencies: The Portal Dragon has lived a long time and that combined that it can learn from anywhere it wishes, it can be assumed to have all nonweapon proficiencies available in the campaign (except those that are only taught to a specific class, race, etc.). This list definitely includes: alertness; anatomy (draconic, dwarven, elven, gnomish, halfling, human, & tanarri); ancient history (many worlds, including Faern and Krynn); ancient languages (Auld Wyrmish & Thorass); appraising; blind fighting; debate; direction sense; endurance; etiquette; gaming; healing; herbalism; hunting; intimidation; local history (Demiplane of Mirrors); heraldry; law; lore (dragon slayers, dwarves, elves, humans, & tanarri); necrology; netherworld knowledge; observation; oratory; reading/writing (any he can speak); religion; sage knowledge (all common disciplines); singing; spellcraft; tactics; tactics of magic; tease; tracking; trick; weather sense; wild fighting.

Equipment: The Portal Dragon wears adamantine jewelry, like horn piercings and a few rings and a bracelet or three.

Magical Items: Two undistinguishable rings of wizardry (1st-3rd and 4th-5th), a glassteel collar of the unforgettable (functions as a spellbook and cannot be removed without the permission of the wearer; not even a wish will work in this respect), an unbreakable onyx-linked chain necklace of protection +6, +2 to saving throws, star metal tiger fist bracelets (these items allow him to cause double damage with his front claw attacks twice per day, and those beings without natural claws gain them during this time, equal to that of a tiger), and he wears the torso wrap of draegus (this is a belt that functions as a cloak of displacement and sprouts twin tentacles akin to those of a real displacer beast to grant the wearer two additional attacks per round. Although on this massive creature, only those victims subject to a tail slap can be hit by these magical appendages) upon his tail near its end.

Combat/Tactics: Anyone coming within 50 yards of the Portal Dragon must make a successful saving throw vs. saving throws vs. petrification with a -4 penalty to the roll or become stricken with fear and fight with a -2 penalty to both their attack and damage rolls. His claws and bite inflict gruesome damage; the most so far to be encountered yet by anything but a draconic god! He has the most complete non-unique spell collection in existence by a non-deity; furthermore, as a draconic dimensionalist, the Portal Dragon is a master of instant travel and dimension magics.

As a flame dragon, The Portal Dragon was born immune to both nonmagical and magical fire. As a paragon of the flame dragon race, The Portal Dragon is nearly a god, having been a direct descendent from the linnorm draconic gods, if not the first flame dragon in existence himself. As such he is far more dangerous and powerful than any other flame dragon, and this matched with his mastery of the Art has placed him as the sole protector and wielder of the Demiplane of Portals. As a paragon, The Portal Dragon has the following unique abilities:

The Portal Dragon is so powerful that a single look from him causes those viewing his gaze to suffer the effects of a fleshshiver spell (5th-level wizard spell) simply from making eye contact with him. This attack requires no special effort, thus it can be combined with his other attacks or abilities without hindrance. Furthermore, in addition to the normal 4 penalty to the Constitution rolls for the spell, this penalty is raised due to the power of a paragon, making all those that suffer this fleshshiver gaze from The Portal Dragon to do so at a 10 penalty to their rolls. In addition, his claw attacks cause wounding damage, much as that of a sword of wounding. This effect causes victims struck by him to suffer 2d6 points of damage per round after suffering the wound as additional damage. If several wounds are sustained each one bleeds and causes additional damage each round.

In respects to defensive capabilities, The Portal Dragon is effectively immortal, even to the point where magical aging of any kind fails on him totally. Furthermore, if a 13 or lower is rolled on the percentile roll for his magic resistance, the spell is reflected back at the caster (the magic resistance is rerolled every time a spell is cast at The Portal Dragon). Also, he is so strong, thick and tough in body structure that only weapons of +3 or better enchantment can even hope to harm it, with him being totally immune to the effects of all lesser weapons.

Lastly, The Portal Dragons regeneration power is nigh unstoppable; he can regenerate any type of damage. He regenerates at a rate of 4 hit points of damage per melee round, or 40 hit points per turn. Even if completely disintegrated or slain outright by death magic, he returns to life after the amount of time he requires to regenerate 20 hit points and keeps right on regenerating until it reaches full hit points. The only way to permanently kill The Portal Dragon is to reduce him to 20 hit points and have one of his parents burn his remains into smoldering cinders and spread the ashes across the planes. Although, this process must also occur while he is in the plane of his birthing too...

Allies/Companions: Most everyone he encounters, otherwise they end up his enemy and then his supper.

Foes/Enemies: Anyone who would dare attack him, and then continue such a foolhardy deed once he punishes them.

Appearance: The Portal Dragon is a huge great wyrm of pure heritage and perfect form, his head is very much like that of a red dragon, save for that fact that the topmost portion of his head is shaped like a pineapple; with elongated scales coming to points as they rise away from his face and off this head. He is huge even in dragon terms coming in at an astounding 795 feet; his body is 397 feet in length and his tail then, in addition, accounts for 398 feet of length!

He appears to be a magnificent flame dragon with ruby sparks and flames dancing over his thunderously huge form when he moves. The Portal Dragons scales are pure black with scarlet edges and his eyes appear to be made of a burning red mass of ashes. He is always wearing the finest adamantine items, as almost everything else melts when he gets excited or angered.

Personality: The Portal Dragon is a very courtly entity, having perfect manners and complete control at all times, even when thought to be reckless in anger. He is very knowledgeable and has even been known to trade services and knowledge with others instead of magical items, for travel to and from his lands. He craves magical items over all else, as he claims they taste the best, and once per decade, he eats a rare or unique magical item; but only after its total magical exploration, thus making him the sole being able to make the item if its creator has passed on.

Experience Value: 78,000.

Locales Frequented: The Portal Dragon has traveled all across the multiverse, including Faern and all of the Outer Planes, including an uncountable number of the layers of the Abyss.

History: The Portal Dragon is known to exist by only a rare handful of mortals in the multiverse, as even in all of the Realms the only beings that have knowledge of him are Arik Tenderfoot, Draven Lahar, Elminster, Elrond Mandrake, Lady Phoenix, Lord-Prince Piper, Rolt, and Tannus Blade.

Motivations/Goals: The Portal Dragon lives to learn and to dominate, but firstly to gain magic enough to fill his expanding lands in his private Demiplane, that of the Magical Mirrors.

Campaign Uses: The DM can use The Portal Dragon as a launching point to anywhere in the multiverse, and because of the tithing involved it is a great way to lessen the magical burden of the heroes...and your game balance. ;)
