Chapter XIII

The heroes meet a chaotic dwarf named Azathoth, a fighter/cleric of Talos. Together they set out to stop a mysterious strength and health draining curse and giant attacks in Sundabar. Ambushed in a valley, they were set upon by three mountain giants and several foulwings. Erik began the battle with his new bow while the elf laid low a giant with a fireball, lightning bolt, steel sphere and a sword blow, after flying up to finally kill the massive man! Meanwhile, the rest of the party attacked the swooping foulwings.
Hansom Erik, however, taunted the giants and proceeded to climb up the mountain and beat a giant down, cutting his right leg totally off! With his next artful attack the mighty Erik slipped off the cliff, where he bounced off every inch of the cliff face, finally landing on a very pointy rock with the small of his back! Landing from his horrible ordeal Erik turned away, so that no one could see his tear of pain. Shouting, "I'm comin back up, I'm not finished with you yet!" Erik began, again, the long climb to the top of the cliff.
Azathoth began to battle the foul beasts as they landed, while Monty and Twilight pelted them with magic missiles and the slow Tarbosh pumped himself up with divine power! The dwarf and Tarbosh then took the battle to their foes, as the wizards continued to magic the winged things dead.
Erik then cut the healthy giant a new jib, as the wounded giant nearly kicked him back off the cliff with the last of his strength. Somehow managing to remain on the cliff, Erik then cut the giants down and rolled the crippled one off the cliff in disgust!
There the so-called-heroes ventured to a stronghold where lightning raged and blood rained down upon them. Entering caves at the bottom of the evil place, after the elf levitated them all up to the plateau where the towering abode rested. In the caves, the heroes overcame 4 chimera, then entered and were immediately attacked by 4 huge manticores. Erik did not take kindly to this, as he rushed across the space between them, taking the beasts own tail and shoving it up his arse! There upon, he punched it in the spine and kicked it in the groin. Needless to say it's tail spikes shoot off, killing it outright! The others soon dispatched the rest, while Eagle-eyes Erik spotted a secret tunnel, finding the way inside.
Entering the main chamber, a huge throne on which a cloud giant sits in front of enormous symbol of Koblos! Two other giants in leather armor attack after hearing, "Kill the intruders," from the seated giant. Where Erik said, "Hey, you there. Get out of my seat!"
Then the giants nearly killed the elf and landed a nasty boulder throw on Erik too. Monty ran to the elf's rescue with healing, as Erik and the others charged into battle. Azathoth waddles into melee with a smirk and cheering of the destruction that will be wrought!
Erik nearly cleaves the hand of one of the giants off, while Tarbosh tries to command one of the giant's dead. Azathoth cuts a deep swath from the back of the knee of his chosen giant enemy! After such a sweet attack, though sadly the dwarf missteps, disarming the elf of his masterfully enchanted sword. The elf then covers himself, the dwarf and Tarbosh with a haste spell, boosting their meager attacks on the huge humanoids. Monty lets loose a fireball at a giant's head, and Twilight very nearly withers another giant's leg.
Further into the fray, Erik is struck a heavy blow nearly knocking him to the ground! Another brings him almost to the void of death, where Monty heals him back up a bit. Erik then drops the leader, while the elf joins the battle. Azathoth takes a wound at the hands of the giants, and Tarbosh hits one with another glancing blow.
The giants begin to lose the battle as the mages bring on down with vampiric touch; Monty falling and being stunned. Erik brought down another, and the elf cut the big toe off the giant he was fighting. Azathoth then runs over to the only remaining giant, only to miss it as the elf dispatched him! The party then takes inventory and checks their many wounds. The elf recognizes one of the two leader's magical rings and his horn, as a ring of protection and a horn of fog.
Behind a mirror after resting, the party finds a huge chest full of diamonds and a bottle. Erik busted his way in to the loot, with his mighty magical flail, known as Flaillor!
Tarbosh then feels sad and depressed, Azathoth is very irritated, while the elf is hopeful and comforts the ugly man. Reading a book after entering another room, Tarbosh gets a severe headache. The next room has a floating lich that explodes into greenish mist as a beam of magic hits the heroes, as a rock thrown by Azathoth breaks it in twain! The beam only seems to affect the saddened Tarbosh, as he begins to believe he is an all-powerful being and begins to boss Erik around.
Trying to open hand slap him, Tarbosh only ends up enraging the mighty cobbler. Erik, shocked by the whole ordeal, misses his customary retaliation attack, hitting himself! This hit upon his person, even if by his own hand, lends the cobbler inhuman strength. He swats the ugly one so hard, Tarbosh flies against the wall, reduced to the realm of beaten sleep.
The heroes then tie the insane Tarbosh up with his own dirty turban. Tarbosh screams at Erik the name that the cobbler cannot hear, "Untie me SHOE-SHINE-BOY!" Thus began the end of the ugly man.
After Twilight and the elf drag Erik off the poor fool. Drooling and bloody, as is the usual, Tarbosh is rendered senseless once again. They notice a concealed door as well, but Azathoth realizes that beatings of the ugly one are far, far too exciting to miss.
Going in through the door they party heads east, although Erik keeps pacing up and down the hallways cursing the useless Tarbosh. Eventually getting to another main room, the heroes encounter a hooded figure floating in front of yet another huge symbol of Koblos. In addition, 2 large griffon type creatures with full lion bodies and several nests of winged eagle humanoids attack the badly outnumbered heroes. Monty fireballs a nest, as Twilight casts fly, and Azathoth attacks the hooded being. They are then both stopped quickly as they are weakened terribly by an enfeeblement spell from the Koblos symbol!
The elf tries to subdue one of the griffon creatures, while everyone else is killing everything in sight. Erik goes on killing while he shouts, "How did you like that Tarbosh?" As his visualizes beating Tarbosh as he says the words that need not be ever said!
After subduing his creature the elf downs two winged humanoids, while Erik cleans the rest of them up with a dramatic javelin of lightning attack killing the last two in their own nest. Erik then shoots a corded arrow into the roof and swings down trying to hit the hooded figure, but instead hits the wall. The elf, meanwhile, fills the hooded figure with magic missiles, as Azathoth continues to cut at him with his massive axe.
Erik ends the conflict, cutting the mysterious being down with a mighty cut! His jib has been cut.
Erik goes back to get the ugly one, who he shall not name, but only after kicking him in the face for good measure. Later, the elf finds him and unties him as Erik brings him back. They rest again and heal up. From this point on, Erik will stay ever wary of the deceitful Tarbosh. Tarbosh, however, remembers none of his traitorous ways.
From there they head north. Entering a kitchen, a being forms out of the stone floor, surprising some of the heroes! Erik and the elf lay the beatings down on its head after Erik recovers from surprise. Azathoth also cleaves a large chuck from the creature. Erik takes a hit as the three fighters' cuts ribbons from its form, but in the end Erik defeats the thing.
From there they proceed south to a room full of 5 chests. The first chest is empty and made of lead, the second was filled with many gems, the third is empty, the fourth has electrum within it, and the fifth contains nothing also. Each chest was trapped with lightning traps.
The heroes then ascend up through a shaft again, up to another level. The next room above contains nothing but a large saddle and bones. One room yields a whole bunch of weapons made of clouds. In the next room, however, there is a male and female giant. They begin to cast spells at the heroes. Monty is hit badly with a lightning bolt killing him where he stands!
After cutting down the two giants, nearly in pieces for the male one. They find a giant spellbook and many other magical items. Tarbosh uses the Wand of Infinity to resurrect Monty. The heroes rest and heal up yet again.
Entering the next section of this giant complex, the party is shocked when Tarbosh begins to be strangled by an unseen force! The elf and Erik beat the thing off him long enough for him to breathe.
The next room seems to be that of a cleric with many symbols of Koblos. It bears many items of magic, yet the school of them cannot be seen. They set out to the west from here. Another residence bearing similar items as the room before. Erik cutting the beds up wherever he finds them and the dwarf breaking things right along side him. Erik enjoys his company while wrecking rooms.
Inside a wardrobe a fiery symbol of Koblos that spews fire into a bowl that never overflows, while two robed figures, a man and a woman, each with a battle axe kneel in front of it. They rise and speak, "Koblos is coming, he is coming for you." Then clouds form into gargoyle-like creatures resembling lizards and the robed figures blind the elf with a word of power and try to stun Erik the same way; only the elf is affected. There upon Erik says, "Your feeble priestly magic cannot harm me!"
Tarbosh removes the blindness from the elf, while Erik cuts a robed woman a new jib! The elf then flies over to engage the man, slicing a good chuck out of his gray slaad hide. While Erik cuts and struts as is the usual for him. The elf is then cut severely by his enemy slaad.
Azathoth bashes a cloud creature viciously with his borrowed magical mace from Tarbosh. The elf and Erik are both struck by their slaad enemies. Erik strikes back with a nasty attack, killing the female slaad. The elf is struck again, while Erik comes to help in the battle. Tarbosh crushes the beast's head somewhat, but Erik finishes the male off as well.
Meanwhile, Azathoth continues to battle with the cloud gargoyles. Erik throws his sword into one of the cloud creatures, but fails to look heroic by lifting it above his head. Tarbosh hits one also. The elf finishes the last one off, as Erik attempts to yet again lift the creature, but fails again.
