But, Lord, I'm A Southern Baptist

Pastor/Evangelist William Sharples was like so many pastors and evangelists, always on the giving end. With the responsibilities of ministry today, with its complex needs of men and women, it is easy to see how one can become burned out. It is, many times, when one comes to the end of him/herself or his resouces that it results in a pursuit of more of God. This was the case with Bill Sharples.

As we journey down life's path, God causes certain people to come into our life who prepare the soil of our hearts for what the Spirit is wanting to accomplish. This, too, was the story of Bill Sharples. Men and women, whom the Spirit had filled, began to share the fullness of God's presence and power with this pastor/evangelist. God, in His sovereign grace, was waiting to meet the need of a thirsty heart.

It was after Bill Sharples was baptized in the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gave utterance, that he discovered anew found joy and power in his life. In Acts 1:8 the Scripture states, "ye shall recieve power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto me...."

The Spirit's empowering to live, as well as to speak, so as to be an effective witness for Jesus Christ is the purpose for the
Spirit's baptism.

Pastor Bill is now being used of God, by the Spirit, to bring a message of life in the Spirit and is being used to bless and strengthen Christ's Church. We commend our dear brother for his desire for excellence and his hunger for the work of the Spirit in his life.
