The Yearning
I came upon an open throughway.
Oh Yes...it was a field of green,
A field that I had never seen.
And to build this mystery even more,
I had walked this path many a times before!
Oh...but it was a welcome sight,
Just to feel the breeze and the warm sunlight.
And all reasons for it being there
Seemed to slip away and vanish into the air.
Suddenly, on yonder hill
I saw a figure sitting ever so still.
Unlike anyone that I had ever seen,
With form and beauty so serene.
He did not flee as I drew near
It seemed as though he knew no fear.
But slowly turned and gazed at me
With eyes that were so wild and free!
His hair, in length fell down his back
Deep and rich, and so velvety black.
His wings were spread to the warming sun
He was of Feary stock...more beautiful than anyone!
I was drawn to him..as in a trance
But I fought it not, from that first glance.
Just being there was all I knew,
A space in time that I walked through.
Time passed so swiftly in this expance
That began, with only a single glance.
For I awakened damp and cold...and so displaced
There I was deep in the woods, and by the trees embraced.
Time has passed... so many years gone by
Yet no one believed what I had seen, save I.
And all these years, I have spent alone
For what I've seen this world cannot condone.
I walk the woods...day by day
Now..looking for that secret doorway.
It is to him that I want to return
For it is for him and his freedom that I do yearn.
