~Before Time Was~

Before time was, there was The One;
The One was all & all was The One.

And the vast expanse known as the Universe was The One,
allwise, all-pervading, all-powerful, eternally changing.

And Space moved.
The One molded energy into twin forms equal but opposite,
fashioning the Goddess and God from The One and of The One.

The Goddess & God stretched and gave thanks to The One,
but darkness surrounded them.
They were alone, solitary save for The One.

So they formed energy into gases and gases into suns and planets and moons;
They sprinkled the Universe with whirling globes and so all
was given shape by the hands of the Goddess and God.
Light arose and the sky was illuminated by a billion suns,
and the Goddess and Gods, satisfied by their works, rejoiced and loved, and were one.

From their union sprang seeds of life, and of the human race,
so that we might achieve incarnation upon the Earth.

The Goddess chose the Moon as her symbol,
and the God the Sun as his symbol to remind the inhabitants of Earth of their fashioners.

All are born, live, die and are reborn beneath The Sun and Moon;
all things come to pass thereunder,
and all occurs with the blessings of The One,
as has been the way of existence before time was.

~The Charge of the Goddess~

Hear my words and know me!
I shall be called a million names by all who speak!
I am Eternal Maiden!
I am Great Mother!
I am the Old One who holds the immortal key!
I am shrouded in Mystery,
but am known to every soul!

Hear my words and know me!
Whenever the Moon rises in the Heavens shall my children come to me.
Better it be once a month when the moon is full,
shall ye assemble in some secret place,
such as this,
and adore the spirit of I.
I, who am the Queen of Witches!

And under my watchful eye,
my children shall be taught the mysteries of Earth and Nature,
of the ways of all Magick!
That which is unknown shall be known,
and that which is hidden shall be revealed,
even the secluded soul shall be pierced with my Light!
From my cauldron shall be drunk all knowledge and immortality!

Ye shall be free from slavery and ye shall dance, sing and feast.
Music shall surround you,
for mine is the ecstasy of the spirit,
and mine is also the joy of the earth!

I do not demmand sacrifice!
For behold, I am the Mother of all living things!

Create and heal!

Be strong, yet gentle.

Be noble, yet reverent.

Bring forth and replenish.

And, as does the cycle of the Moon ever begin to wax
and wane and grow forth again,
as do the seasons from one to the next flow in smooth rhythm,
from sowing to reaping,
to seeming death and birth...
so will my children know their own pattern in both worlds!

And ye shall say these words...
I Will love and harm none.
I Will live, love, die, and live again.
I Will meet, remember, know,
and embrace once more.
For the free will of ALL,
and with harm to None
As I will
It now is done
So mote it be!

~Wicca in My Life~

My life has been in many ways
strands of many paths.
Never really feeling I was walking the right path.
Very much confused over so many issues
dealing with religion.

My natural sister had come to walk the Wiccan path long before me
and it was her that actually brought me into the knowledge of Wicca.

At first, it sounded all so strange to me
yet as though I had really understood it for a very long time!
I pushed it away at first
but I found that I was only fighting myself.
Because I fought myself so hard
it has taken me nearly 2 years to become a 1st Degree Initiate
but I made it!!

My feelings on Wicca are very simple,
you are more or less born with this
and it is something that you can or cannot develope.
It is all up to you!
It is something from within,
that is simply waiting to be discovered,
not something that you can learn completely
from without.

Once you discover this desire for Magick,
and you allow your mind to open and flow with it
learning is very natural.

I belong to a Wiccan Coven, "Circle of Magick"
so the Wiccan Ways are my main interest,
but I do respect all forms of Magick
as we are all linked.

All I can say to anyone new
still wondering about Wicca
or any form of Magick is:
If you are drawn
go with it
there is so much to discover.
Begin to read about this that you are drawn to
and you will find one of the most beautiful religions there is.

We are all brothers and sisters
upon this earth
divided only by our religious faiths.
Whatever faith you are
do not allow your faith to build walls
between you and those of other faiths.
No matter what faith we are
the Law of sowing and reaping
applies to each and everyone of us upon the earth.

~Moon Lady~

I see your circled orb
high in the skies of night;
a ghostly galleon floating upon the cloudy sea of darkness.
Your gossamer veil cloaks the night sky in silvery softness,
caressing the land with tender moonlight promises.
Your breath is the gentle breeze
floating across the slumbering Earth,
sighing in contentment and tickling the dreams of Man.
The brightest stars in the heavens glow in your dark velvet eyes.
Your hair, blacker than the blackest raven's wing,
is adorned with twinkling stars and blazing comets.
You spread your black cloak over the land,
taking all creatures under your protective wing,
sheltering them until the dawn breaks over the horizon.

Your throne.
Silver shells from the sea,
bathed in the moonlight.
Black obsidian kissed by the night.
Pearls of the whitest sheen,
washed in the lake of dreams.
Brother Raven's feathers adorn your Moon Scepter,
dipped in purity.

You who are the protector and bringer of dreams:
bring me a sweet dream of moonlit lakes
and silver sands,
bring me a sweet dream of the one whom I love,
bathed in your protective light.
Send me visions of the future,
soft and silver,
flowing on the river of Time.

Keeper of Dreams.
Dark Mother.
Moon Lady.

~The Wiccan Rede~

Bide within the Law you must.
in perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live,
fairly take and fairly give.

For tread the Circle thrice about
to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time,
let the spell be said in rhyme.

Light of eye and soft of touch,
speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name,
let love and light be our guides again.

Deosil go by waxing moon,
chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane,
and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.

When the Lady's moon is new,
kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak
then your heart's desire seek.

Heed the North winds mighty gale,
lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Winds blow from the East,
expect the new and set the feast.

When the winds come from the South,
love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the winds whisper from the West,
all hearts will find peace and rest.

Nine woods in the Cauldron go,
burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes
to represent what the Lady knows.

Oak in the forest tower with might
in the fire it brings the God's insight.
Rowan is a tree of power
causing life and magick to flower.

Willows at the waterside stand
ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify
and to draw faerie to your eye.

Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning
adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree
that bring us fruits of fertility.

Grapes grow upon the vine
giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen
to represent immortality seen.

Elder is the Lady's tree
burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark
in the light and in the dark.

As the old year starts to wane
the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolg shows
watch for flowers through the snows.

When the wheel begins to turn
soon the Beltaine fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lammas night
power is brought to magick rite.

Four times the Minor Sabbats fall
use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule
light the log the Horned One rules.

In the spring, when night equals day
time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height
time for Oak and Holly to fight.

Harvesting comes to one and all
when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree
By the Lady blessed you'll be.

Where the rippling waters go
cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need,
harken not to others greed.

With a fool no season spend
or be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part
bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind the Three-fold Laws you should
three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow
wear the star upon your brow.

Be true in love this you must do
unless your love is false to you.
Eight words the Rede fulfil
"And ye harm none, do what ye will".

~Tis'Me~

I am one with the air
As I have given myself to the winds
Wisdom of old
now being my deepest desire.

I am transformed by the fire
Reborn and inspired.

I am washed ever clean by the waters
Refreshed by it's power.

I am part of the earth
and shall ever be.

My spirit has grown
stronger than ever before.

I am now a force of all nature
One with my Lady and my Lord.

Magick is my very soul
Proud I now stand
I am a Witch.

~In Closing~

Entering into the Craft is a spiritual odyssey,
a journey of self-realization,
and a commitment to the gods and ancestors.
It will have repercussions all through your life
and beyond.
Most Witches believe or feel
that they have experienced reincarnation,
and that initiation into the Craft
will affect all future incarnations.
Once a Witch,
always a Witch, they say.

There are hundreds of books on how to become a Witch,
but very few sources for guidance
once you've gotten past the beginners stage.
To be a Witch,
one of the "wise ones"
is to commit yourself to the pursuit
of knowledge and spiritual growth.
Learning never ends.
With each degree the obligations increase
as you become more and more involved in
teaching, service, and leadership roles---
a Witches' work is never done.

It is not enough to simply become wise
or expert in some arcane field of study.
We are very much part of the world,
not ascetics seeking to escape from the realities of life.

Witches revel in life,
and through the celebrations of the wheel of the year,
we attune ourselves to the ebb and flow
of the cycles of the Sun, Moon, and planets.
Witches are the ones who pay attention to the seasons,
who work with the forces of Nature.
Witches seek to learn the subtle ways of wisdom.
However, wisdom needs to be acted upon to be worthwhile.
We are not mere observers,
but rather,
we are joyful participants in the dance of life.

~Returning~

Riding on a thread of pale,
yet silver moonlight,
Gliding swifter,
than any human sight,
Come I...
Come I...into this glorious night.

Many times I have been
in this very place,
Flying through this great expance
of space,
And worn the face...
of many a race.

Once again I return
from time untold,
Seeking out a brave
new fold.
Waiting on the edge of light
for my life to be retold.
