They're
in alphabetical order (>sort< of)- BUT, you just NEVER know what you'll
find lurking herein...you'll just have to poke around and see...woncha?!
NOTE:
Given that I have intentionally avoided putting hard carriage returns at
the end of every line of text, some browsers will not reproduce these texts
in a very user friendly manner. So, remember, you can "right click" on
the link, and then select "Save link as..." from the little drop-down menu
that will appear, and then save the file as a text (.txt) file on your
computer for you to open up in the word processor of your choice (including
the notepad.exe program).
Before you wander through
my own stuff, take
a look here at some of the sermon's I have had the delight to listen
to and learn from, all written and taught by the pastor of my church, Dave
Smith.
Also, take a look at Dispensationalism_Zuck.txt
This is an excellent discussion of a theological approach to Scripture
called Dispensationalism. Written by a marvelous man named Dr Roy Zuck,
this is a simple, clear, erudite but not pedantic (UNlike me, you're thinking?),
discussion that ALL students of the Bible should read.
OK, you seen the best, now
see the rest - here's my stuff:
1st
Samuel.txt A series of notes and comments going verse by
verse through the Old Testament book of 1st Samuel.
I
Kings.txt A couple of thoughts I had while reading in I Kings.
II
Kings.txt A series of notes and comments on the 1st 10 chapters
of this Old Testament book.
2chronicles.txt
A few paragraphs drawn from 2 Chronicles starting in Ch 27.
ACTS.txt
A few loose thoughts is all, but maybe of use, I hope. I've got some other
stuff derived from the book of Acts further down, as well.
Angels
at the Tomb.txt Ever wonder WHY those Angels rolled away
that stone from the Tomb and then STAYED AROUND afterwards? Here's
my thoughts on the subject...
BARNABAS.txt
Barnabas lived in the 1st Century AD. He was the guy who gave Paul his
first big break in the New Testament Church. This was a MUCH tougher sales
job than you might think, given that our buddy, "good ol' Paul", was formerly
known around the Early Church as an utterly charming guy they surely
must have called "Saul the Christian Killer". This lesson examines
Barnabas' life as revealed in Scripture, but not just to provide Early
Church Trivia - as always, it's to learn how God demonstrates His Grace,
His Life in Christ, in those who have lived before us - we will see the
Person of the Living Savior in the life of this man, Barnabus; now THATS
a good reason to study him, eh?
Christian
Fundamentals.txt A lesson meant for brand-new believers.
It addresses some important fundamental doctrinal truths important for
us to understand - especially at the start of our new Life in Christ.
Colossians
1:13-14.txt A Doctor spends his life giving terrible news to >others<
- but he HAS to do it, NO WAY OUT of it. It would be even MORE horrible
should I >not<, even if I >knew< the news would be grevious and upsetting.
And yet, fortunately, I sometimes ALSO get to deliver >wonderful< news
- news of LIFE, of HOPE, that brings LIGHT into darkness and heartache.
THESE 2 VERSES DO THAT VERY THING FOR ALL HUMANITY. Download this file
and take a look...
Cornelius.txt
This study looks at chapter 10 of Acts, the story of one of the (if not
THE ) 1st gentile Christian, and a Roman military commander, to boot. Now
THIS guy was a fascinating man - one I would have been proud to have served
with even today - read Acts 10 and find out why...
Deuteronomy.txt
Just a couple of thoughts drawn from this Old Testament book.
Elisha
2Ki2.txt A character study taken from 2nd Kings chapter 2 regarding
the man called Elisha, a prophet of God. So, WHY do we take the time to
examine the lives of those God has put before us in His word? It is not
to be out of mere curiosity, or obligation or even just for entertainment
(Sheesh! I gotta read SOMETHING, it might as well be one of those "BIBLE"
stories that Hollywood likes to make movies out of...). It is because GOD
REVEALS HIMSELF to us through the lives of these people. And in their lives
we can see our own, and learn that the God who was faithful to folks just
like us then, is STILL FAITHFUL NOW;
Ephesians.txt
A few odds and ends, is all.
EXODUS.txt
Just a few thoughts and musings on portions of the Old Testament book of
Exodus.
Feeding
the 5000.txt This lesson is taken from all four gospels.
However, the central passage is found in Marks Gospel chapter 6, vss 30-44.
But, I want all you out there to also note the other 3 passages (for your
OWN perusal later, I trust); they are Matt 14:9-21; Luke 9:10-17 and John
6:1-15. I wanted to make sure you knew where to look to check up on me
in case I tried to sneak a fast one in on you somewhere.
GENESIS.txt
Just a few thoughts and musings on portions of the Old Testament book of
Genesis.
Hebrews
Study Notes This is a study that addresses some issues regarding
chapters 3-6 of the Book of Hebrews in the New Testament. Worth a peek,
even if you don't agree with my conclusions and considerations...
Isaiah52-53.TXT
This lesson considers the issue of Jesus' death, and some of the things
that God has had to say about it for over 2,700 years. There are at least
34 prophesies alone about the death of Jesus. This lesson examines some
of Isaiah's proclamations about our Saviour, and also the fulfilments of
those prophetic words.
Jesus
& the Centurian.txt This is a lesson taken from Luke 7:1-19
w/ref to Mat 8:5-13. A story of a pagan man who acted on the Truth he had
come to see unfold in the world around him, and in his own home.
JEREMIAH.txt
Just 2 or 3 thoughts on a couple of verses is all, but maybe it'll stimulate
some thought, just the same...
JOHN.txtBesides
the >other< stuff I've written about specific passages in the Gospel
of John (one's already mentioned elsewhere on this page), this contains
additional assorted thoughts, observations and commentary on the Gospel
of John
Jn
- Love.txt The Gospel of John declares that the Love of Christ
that believers demonstrate to each other is THE way that the World will
identify us and the criteria BY which IT will JUDGE >US<. Betcha didn't
know THAT, didja? Take a peek at this short lesson and find out more.
John
4.txt A
study of the 4th Chapter of the Gospel of John, wherein we see Jesus presented
in two powerful and compelling Scriptural accounts as the GIVER OF LIFE,
1st to the Samaritan Women at the Well, and then to the desperate father
of a dying child.
some
new insights for you...
JOHN9.txt
This lesson is called "The Blind Men of Isreal" - the story maybe better
known as "Jesus Heals the Man Born Blind" for me was really about Spiritual
blindness and it's solution in Jesus Christ.
John's
Funeral.txt Thoughts Written on Returning from the Funeral of a
Dear Friend...
JUDE-1.txt
Some general notes on the Book as a whole (hey, here's ANOTHER chance to
read a whole book
JUDE.txt
Another lesson on the 1st eight verses of this tiny book.
LUKE.txt
Assorted thoughts, observations and occasional paragraphs of commentary
on the Gospel of Luke (a fellow Physican doncha know!)
Luke
7_36-50.txt This passage tells us of Jesus, a prostitute, a pharisee
and the most marvelous Brunch YOU'LL ever hope to attend...
MATTHEW.txt
Assorted thoughts, observations and occasional paragraphs of commentary
on the Gospel of Matthew (Hey, he >used< to be a tax collector...just
goes to show that Jesus really DOES love ALL of us...)
MARK.txt
Assorted thoughts, observations and occasional paragraphs of commentary
on the Gospel of Mark.
Mark
13.txt "The Day of the Lord" - a couple of paragraphs worth of
lesson drawn from the 13th Chapter of the Gospel of Mark.
Naaman.txt
The story in II Kings, Chapter 5, of a Supreme Military Commander from
a foreign enemy nation who has both a terrible disease and a most wonderful
(yet nameless) captive servant, who goes to meet an irrascible prophet,
and discovers his God, the God of >ALL< nations.
NUMBERS.txt
Just a couple of thoughts drawn from this Book in the Old Testament.
Nehemiah.txt
Nehemiah was a remarkable man who was 1st >the< major league politician
in the largest government in the world of his time, and then became a military
governor who led the restoration of Jerusalem. He demonstrated throughout
his remarkable life the value and success of faithfully practicing the
fundamental principles of Godly living IN the REAL World. He was a man
among men, who showed that a Godly man doesn't have to be a wimp, or take
second place to ANYone who would live apart from God.
ONESIMUS.txt
A study of the New Testament Book of Philemon - HEY! Even YOU can claim
to have read an >entire< book of the Bible at ONE time here!
PSALMS.txt
Only just a few thoughts that occurred to me while I read through Psalms.
Possessions.txt
These are a few notes from an 18 Sep 94 sermon by Al Gilbert regarding
5 examples of people confused about their possessions and the part they
play in our lives as believers.
Servants.txt
So often we focus on the "famous" people of scripture - the celebrities
of God's word. However, there is much to be gained from an occasional peek
at the NOT-so-famous, at the nameless little-shots of the Word. This lesson
takes a look at some servants of scripture. I want us to take a look at
these examples of servants in scripture for I believe that we are quite
likely to find ourselves there, to learn about ourselves in those lives.
It's not often that we get to be the powerful and famous ones in our own
lives, so perhaps we should see how God's own quiet "extras" lived their
lives, and find insight for ourselves there. The passages examined here
are Gen 24, II Kings 5:1-19; 6:8-23.
Samuel
the Man.txt This lesson briefly examines the life and times of
a man named Samuel. WHY do we study the lives of men, esp in the Bible??
It is NOT JUST to study THEM as if to somehow learn how to pick up a few
good habits, although that could be done and there is some small direct
benefit to be found from that; BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, it is to study the
character of GOD as it is revealed in the lives of these other men; GOD
HAS NOT CHANGED! What was true for these biblical people even thousands
of yrs ago will STILL hold true NOW because the God who is at the heart
of all these events has reamined the same!! and will even so respond to
US as He did those many thousands of yrs ago.
