Soon afer Annie's parents left Matt figures out that there's something
wrong, but he doesn't know exactly what it is - at first. Simon tries to
help around the house, to ease his parents' mood before he has to tell
them that Happy is ruining Eric's shoes - and getting puppies. Mary and
Lucy have 'boy-problems': Lucy likes a boy, Jimmy Moon, but doesn't
dare to ask him; but after he asks her she simply can't get out a word.
Mary is after Jeff for her first kissing experience - which Matt tells
him. Matt is in another sort of trouble after he comes home early one
morning, because he fell asleep at a friend's - a female friend,
that is. Grounded for three weeks, Matt's parents call this girl, Renee,
over to meet her and then see why Matt's helping her - she's pregnant.

003 [1.03-96] In the Blink of an Eye / Abschiedsbesuch
In order to make room for Annie's parents, Simon's wish for a bunk
bed finally comes true - the drawback however is that Ruthie moves
in with him. A new situation that takes some time to accept. When
Annie's parents cancel their visit, Annie assumes that there's
something wrong and flies to Arizona. After meeting with them and
realizing that everything fine, the three have a good time on their
way back to Glenoak. To help his parents, Matt's car restrictions are
temporarily withdrawn for the 'Meals on Wheels' round. However, tricky
Matt finds a way to squeeze in some time with his girlfriend - which
goes awry badly when he hits a police car. Lucy has a date with Jimmy
Moon. Mary - not allowed to go to a party with Jeff anyway - agrees to
help her keep their dad on distance. But bad blood between the girls
makes Mary switch sides.

Annie a feeling of being abandoned. With his grandma dead, Simon
wants to know where she is, specifically where Heaven is. Like Annie
misses her mom, Lucy misses her grandma terribly. At the funeral
party Sue and Steven, a married couple, have to face the shaky
grounds their marriage is based on: Sue suspects that Steven has an
affair, while he admits he was still married when he said 'I Do' to
her. Mary wants to break up with Jeff, who asks her to go steady.

005 [1.05-96] The Color of God / Die Farbe Gottes
With the Hamiltons' church burnt down by racists, the Camdens offer
their support during this hard time. While the rest of the family
moves in at the Camden's, Morgan and Eric stay at the Hamilton's.
A somehow frightening situation for all involved, since the arsonists
left note they'd be back. While the small kids are like always best
friends, the grown-up kids are rather estranged, and it takes some
time until everybody feels comfortable. Defending Nigel against a
racial remark, a punch gets Simon suspended from school. The
Salt&Butter trick makes the round.

006 [1.06-96] Halloween / Halloween
For the kids, the mentally handicapped Mike Mitchell is the perfect
Halloween scare. After Jimmy, friends and Lucy has gone to his place
to steal a pumpkin (and running into Mike) Annie demands that Lucy
returns the pumpkin. Doing as told Lucy meets Mike, gets to talk
to him and subsequently befriending him. Eric's apathy for halloween
is quite known, unknown however to the others is the story behind it:
a school friendship shattered years ago over a misunderstanding about
a costume. Matt asks out newly seperated Roxanne to the dance. Happy
at first he soon gets the catch when she wants him to wear a costume
he really dislikes. The church again organizes a Carnival with a pumpkin
carving contest. Simon as the defending champion is eager to win the
top spot again. Ruthie can't decide on a costume.

007 [1.07-96] Saturday / Strafe muss sein
Mary tells the family that she doesn't want them to come to the big
basketball game - quite a shock for the others. And especially for
Lucy who wanted to get on Ashley's, a popular girl in school, good side.
But a 'does he like me' call ruins the rest for her. Matt has again
a new job, tutoring Susan, and is again fired when her dad catches
them both liplocked. Simon and Ruthie, playing detective, follow the
'bad guy', the mailman, and subsequently get lost in the neighborhood.
At the supermarket Eric runs into Terry Daniels, a guy he helped to go
into rehab a while ago. He learns that he dropped out of rehab and

she also was deeply affected by it. The choir master wants Eric to

class. Motivated by Tom, she wants to learn more about other religions
- and maybe decide in favor for one of these - before she joins her
dad's. A trip to the detention room (for tardiness) introduces Mary
to Camille, a known troublemaker. And Mary lands in deep trouble after
she agreed to go with Camille to a late-night party - which turns out
to be a private one - which requires not only sneaking out of the house.
Simon and Ruthie find a $50 bill on the sidewalk and discuss how to
spend it best. They come up with buying a pet, a hamster or something
like that, but end up with two (illigal) ferrets. Eric with Annie
