bringing him at odds with his friend Kevin who wants in. The initiation
ritual however lands Kevin in serious condition in hospital . The family
wants to fix up a car for Matt. Simon, as the only male, backs out after
this has become a 'girl thing'. Eventually Lucy ends up doing it alone.
Because of this Annie fears that Simon could be left out and suggests
Eric a boys' night out. Nancy Randolph, a new church and choir member,
starts flirting with Eric - who doesn't notice. But Simon does and gets
mad at his dad. Annie has the feeling the twins will be girls, a thought

047 [3.03-98] Cutters / Freundinnen
It happens to all the boys, and Matt is no exception: he is rejected
by a girl. He, though, can't accept it and gets crazy over the 'why'-
question. Simon's 'The squeaky will get the oil, and no one sqeaks
more than Lucy' makes Ruthie to fail math to get more attention from
her mom - and costs Simon. Lucy hangs out a lot with her new best
friend Nicole. Something Mary dislikes because in her eyes Nicole means
trouble. And a jump to conclusion makes it clear that she is the reason
why both she and Lucy fail biology. But it's not that simple when Mary
discovers that Nicole is a so-called 'cutter' ...

048 [3.04-98] The Legacy / Missverstaendnis
At school Simon witnesses Mr. Lane - one of his favorite teachers -
pushing a father, who's signaling abusive behavior towards his son.
When asked by the Princial, he tells his story and later, when Mr. Lane
gets suspended, Simon blames himself. Pregnant with the twins, it's
time for Annie to pick her 'pregnancy project'. She finally settles
with learning the piano. Not at last thanks to a cute teacher who
gives her a good feeling, something tricky Eric has intended. Lucy
battles geometry and her teacher, who eats her lunch after she has
forgotten it in class and doesn't return on time - due to not applying
geometry practically. For band class Ruthie tries out instruments,
tormenting her family with trumpet and sax. Matt misreads his
teacher's signals and makes a move on her. When that goes wrong he
adds insinuation to his list of bad choices after she has given him
a bad grade on a paper and he takes it as a sign of revenge. Bored
with Mrs. McKee's literature class, Mary, Cheryl and Corey decide
to skip it and have some fun. And after getting caught, boredom is
no longer an issue.

049 [3.05-98] ... And a Nice Chianti / Zweifelhaftes Fahrvergnuegen
Mary gets her learner's permit - a dream come true for her, a nightmare
for the rest of the family. Now with Mary driving, Simon and Lucy decide
to take the bus. And it soon turns out they jumped out of one right into
another nightmare. While a boy hits on Lucy - and his girlfriend
subsequently threatens her - Simon is simply unwelcomed - at first.
He later raises to the star of the bus, only to take a deep fall in
the end. Eric counsels a devorced woman, who's still grieving over her
son, who died three years ago. After meeting a lighthearted woman, a
heart recipient, she remembers that she and her then-husband agreed
to donate their son's organs. And the thought of having helped persons
brings back her spirits. Wanting to help a stranded, pregnant girl,
Theresa, she takes off with Matt's car, leaving behind hers - which is
reported stolen and subsequently gets Matt arrested. After searching
for Theresa, Eric learns about her situation - because of the pregnancy
her parents disown her - and wants to help.

now wants to get back together with Deena. And he makes it clear to
Simon that he's no obstacle: he threatens to shoot Simon. Of course,
he and Deena are very afraid of Johnny, and their parents, too, when
they learn about it. Eric tries to talk to Johnny's father, without
success. And learning that the boy has a record makes it clear that
he could mean it seriously. George, the brother of Matt's girlfriend
Shana, meets Mary and wants to go out with her. Mary agrees, unaware
that he is of violent nature. Ruthie is obsessed with a violent video
game, although her parents are strictly against it. She even gets in
trouble in school.

to give him a boost during studying. Also Mary is offered these
energy-booster by teammember Diane, which should 'give competitive

temptation. When Eric finds out he tells them the truth, and also
wants to talk to Diane and her father. Simon gets addicted to coffee

at home he doesn't have the time needed to properly fullfil his job.
