Star Trek - The Next Generation - Season 3 |
A great story. Picard gives the full Roddenberry speech to the Mintakan leader Nuria. This show is about the Prime Directive, first contact and all the issues that makes this whole series so interesting. A good episode to show to sceptics of the show, this is the essence of Star Trek to me.

A good Romulan story is always welcome. This may be a direct rip-off of Enemy Mine but its nicely executed.
Burton is great and the powerplay between Tomalok and Picard is excellent. Good, but not great.

The second Romulan show of the season. A story of loyalty and treachery, and Admiral Jarok is
an interesting character. A shame he had to kill himself but then again, that was the whole point
of the show. I love it when TNG does Shakespeare,
but why does that holodeck character remind me of Captain Picard so much?

An stunning episode with an excellent script. Denise Crosby drops by to revive her dead character
Tasha Yar. Nice to see her back,
makes you wonder what could have been if she hadn't left the show.
This has everything you could wish for.

Indiana Jones-ish Picard story. This is quite different from what we've seen earlier in the series.
Nice to see Picard finally get some (and some action as well).
Max Grodnchik makes his first Trek appearance, and gets punched in the nose by Picard. Great fun!

Mark Lennard makes an appearance as the legendary Ambassador Sarek, and I must say he is amazing.
Because of the Bendii syndrome he is allowed to act very emotionally. This episode has one of the most powerful
scenes in Star Trek history, namely the one where Picard suffers from the after effects of his mindmeld with Sarek.

This is it! This is generally accepted as the best TNG show of them all. I can't say I disagree on that one - it really is brilliant. Here we see the Borg as they were originally intended - the biggest threat to the galaxy ever encoutered. Every scene, every line in the script is, the music, the effects - everything works perfectly. And the climax is probably the most intense moment in all of Star Trek.
