Star Trek - Voyager - Season 4 |
One of the ultimate "Seven exploring her humanity" episodes, and possibly the worst of them. The B'omar Sovereignty were an interesting no-nonsense race, but totally ruined ny the way Seven's one shuttle could cripple a whole armada of their ships. The only thing this show has going for it are some nice looking visual effects, the nightmare scenes look very good and scary.

Thought police story. A world that believes they have eliminated crime by outlawing violent thought. Not quite. Tuvok gets to investigate and does a good job. Neelix likes having his whiskers tugged by young girls. Funny. A few plot holes here and there, but still worthy.

Easily the best episode of the season. Neelix, the fuzzy little guy they use for comic relief, finally gets a serious scirpt to work with. There is nothing comic about this, deadly serious subject and a truly heartbreaking performance by Ethan Phillips. Chakotey is put to good use too. Far, far superior to your average space-battle of the week type of story. One of my favourite Voyager episodes.

Aliens of the week this time are pretty original. A species that live in a dream state. The story is very nicely written, with a few surprising twists and turns. Some witty dialogue, and Tuvok's nightmare is pretty funny. Best part is though, that Chakotey gets more action than normal. It doesn't leave a permanent impression, but better than average.

Omega itself is interesting and a worthy subject for a Star Trek episode. But of course any good premise can immediately be
ruined by a few disgusting scenes with Seven and Janeway. The final scene just leaves me with a foul taste in my mouth. Well, it has that effect
every time Janeway does her motherly-concern voice.
