143 [7.01-91] Back to School / Mike und die Naturgesetze

    Carol moves into the university dorm but returns when her roommate
    wants to spend her time rather with her boyfriend than with Carol.
    For Ben and Chrissy school starts and both have a hard time, Chrissy
    when she's trying to put Ben's advises into action and Ben when he
    hasn't a chance to do so. In fact, it's much worse for him because the
    school physician prescribes him glasses and - as this wouldn't be
    enough - he is elected president of the chess club. Mike takes on a
    teaching job at the Community Health Clinic. But he serves a hard day,
    too, when the students, at least one, turn out to be smarter than him.

144 [7.02-91] Stop, Luke, and Listen / Ohne festen Wohnsitz

    At school, Mike should let his students fill out a form who to contact
    in emergency situations. But the one of Luke is missing. Remembering
    that he has seen a bed in the school's basement he goes and finds Luke
    living there. He wants to help him but the result is that Luke ends up
    being completely homeless now. While he's searching for Luke he misses
    the dinner with Kate and his parents at home. Maggie who cooked all day,
    learns at dinner table that Kate's keeping a strict diet.

    Mike can persuade his parents to let Luke stay until they can find a
    new host family for him. But fearing that the persons in his new home
    doesn't like him he tells some fibs about his past life. He really
    gets along well with his new family but then Maggie and Jason discover
    that a lot of wine bottles are missing ...

    Jason gets the offer to write a psychology column for the 'Long Island
    Sentinel' after his appearance as an expert witness in court. Maggie,
    thinking that Doug Stanton, the editor-in-chief and her former boss,
    cheated on Jason, she goes negotiating a better deal for him. In the
    course of this she also lands a column, but has to learn later that
    there's only money for one - hers or Jason's. Let the war begin ...

147 [7.05-91] The Young and the Homeless / Unter der Sonne der Seifenoper

    After six months lying in coma, Strong Waverly, Mike's character on
    'Big City Secrets' will wake up and tell the - long-awaited - name
    of the murderer. Mike, excited about his first lines on the show,
    accidentally tells that name Carol while rehearsing at home. Carol
    wins some friends at the dorm when they find out that she's the sister
    of Strong Waverly. At home, the Seavers found a new host family for
    Luke. Although the Kimballs seem to be a really nice family, Luke
    doesn't want to be moved around any longer and decides to leave. This
    puts Mike into an awkward position since he has now to choose between
    his soap-opera role and keep Luke from running away.

148 [7.06-91] Jason Sings the Blues / Das Psychobankett

    Going to see the doctor with Luke, Jason lets the doc examine himself
    to show Luke that it absolutely doesn't hurt. Unfortunately, the doctor
    diagnoses a hernia and Jason needs a surgery - the week before his own
    psychiatric banquet. He transfers the organizing duties to Mike who
    himself passes them on to Ben and Luke. And the two have everything
    else in mind but setting up a plain conservative banquet. At the
    banquet, after withstanding several days, Jason finally agrees to take
    painkillers at the same time Maggie couldn't watch him suffer any
    longer and also places them in his dinner - an overdose with strange
    side effects.

    Chrissy is sent home from school because she has lice. As Maggie and
    Carol are out for the weekend it's now the men's duty to clean the
    house inside out. At the dance Carol and Maggie meet Brad and his
    friend Dwight.

    Chrissy fantasizes that after she has been tucked in the adults start
    to party all night. So Jason suggests she can stay up a night as long
    as she wants just to see that nothing happens. But unfortunately it's
    the evening the neighbors throw a costume party and lots of things
    don't go as planned.

151 [7.09-91] The Big Fix / Das Saugmonster

    For cleaning the driveway Ben takes a vacuum cleaner from the ones
    Maggie is currently testing for her column. But a mishap kills the
    cleaner and Kenny tries to fix it. When Maggie tests it he doesn't
    have the power advertised. Kenny takes on another chance to correct
    it, shortly before the live broadcast starts in which Maggie wants
    to accuse the producing company of using wrong statements in ads.
    Luke meets a girl he likes but just tells fibs about his life to
    impress her.

    Maggie and family return to her mother's home to brush up the house
    for sale. Kate wasn't there since her husband Ed has died and she will
    now move to Florida. The house is still filled with memories and the
    ghostly presence of Ed.

    The youth welfare office has found Luke's father, Goerge Brower. He
    already is in town but Mike fears if he'd bring him together with
    Luke, he eventually will go with his father. So Mike and Ben, who
    gives himself out as Luke, check him out first. After Maggie and
    Jason, who were in Washington, learn of 'plans', they head home
    and convince Mike he must tell Luke about his father ...

    Ben wants to take part in a college entrance exam. Then, when he
    accidentally overhears his father saying that 'Ben isn't Einstein',
    he gets quite disappointed and passes on the test. After a month
    living nearby, Dwight finally takes heart to meet Carol. The both
    hit it off right away, only a young girl living at Dwight's shortly
    spoils Carol's feelings for him.

155 [7.13-91] It's Not Easy Being Green / Die Bikini-Affaire

    With Christmas near, the Seavers prepare for a joyous holiday season.
    But it doesn't start that joyful when Carol gets upset (and jealous)
    after she has learned that Dwight is out with someone else. The talk
    about all this leaves its marks on Mike who isn't that sure any longer
    about Kate who's for a shooting - bikini fashion - on Jamaica. As
    jealousy grows, Mike flies down to see her. At home, decorating the
    Christmas tree starts like each year - Jason has it's own plans of
    a perfectly looking tree - but turns around when the rest of the
    gang sets up their own tree while having a lot of fun.

156 [7.14-92] The Call of the Wild / Die Wildnis ruft

    Kate, watching an ad on TV, wants to go skiing. Mike agrees and wants
    to pay for it. But he hasn't any money left and his pride forbids him
    to take it from Kate. So after he had inquired after the cheapest
    option - one free room when twenty others book - he takes along Ben,
    Carol, Dwight and Luke and the others should be Ben's chess club. But
    Ben didn't take along the chess club but the school's party cracks ...

    In town Luke meets his old pal Barney, known as the only honest
    three-card monte player. The Seavers invite him for Luke's birthday
    party. There Luke has to face the fact that Barney isn't that honest
    at all.

    Luke has taken on a job at a restaurant and always comes home late
    in the evening. So Maggie and Jason set a curfew. After violating
    it he gets grounded, just before the weekend where a big party takes
    place. On that day, when his parents are out, Luke asks Mike if he
    couldn't go anyway. Mike agrees but sets a curfew. And Luke violates
    this one again. Ben is testing Chrissy's Psi-abilities for a school
    project.

    Ben totally ignores Cheryl who has a crush on him. He's more after
    Sasha but she turns him down with a laughter. Cheryl inbetween has
    hit it off with Luke and when Ben finds this out, he and Luke clash.

    A school punk harasses Ben who now wants to take up karate. After
    some struggling with his mom he's allowed to take the lessons. With
    some base knowledge he challenges his mom - and she lands a wild
    punch. Now, with even his mother beating him, his self confidence
    hasn't improved but went straight downwards and he thinks about
    resigning.

161 [7.19-92] Don't Go Changin' / Mike, der Spiesser

    Eddie returns after eight months on sea. He hasn't changed - contrary
    to Mike - and his irresposible behavior doesn't quite fit into Mike's
    plans of supervising and educating Luke. Ben shoots a video of the
    family for Carol who's studying in London.

    [Note: At the end of this episode, Ben's video ended with the family
     telling Carol they miss her. A graphic said, 'We miss you, Carol.'
     The word 'Carol' was then replaced with 'Tracey.' This change has

162 [7.20-92] The Truck Stops Here / Das Tomateninferno

    George Brower pays a visit to persuade Luke to go with him on tour,
    but Luke, still mad at his dad, doesn't want to hear a word about all
    this. Then, already on his way, George's back starts aching again -
    Mike thinks this is just a trick, but it turns out that it's deadly
    serious: more time behind the wheel and George may end up paraplegic.
    While George takes a rest at the Seaver's, Jason and Ben deliver his
    load of tomatoes.

    After learning that her roommate from college - and also her rival -
    has won the Pulitzer prize, Maggie questions her career and life. A
    list she made in college with all the things she wants to do in her
    life shows that she has reached only few (and meaningless) of her
    goals. So she decides to settle the points one after one: the first
    thing she wants to do is - roping down from a mountain. Mike and Ben
    have a fight about the use of Mike's tricks in order to get money
    from the parents.

    Fallen pylons cause a power failure throughout Long Island. Another
    result is Maggie and Jason getting stuck in a traffic jam on their way
    to a romatic evening nobody really wants - but it was planned a long
    time ago and nobody wants to upset the other. At home a baby-sitting
    Ben takes care of Chrissy who fears the darkness. The blackout also
    interrupts a banquet given by Dwight and Carol and traps them both
    together with Kate and Mike in Dwight's loft.

    Maggie returns from Washington with big news: Sen. Howard offered
    her the vacant job as a Media Relation Director. The bad news is
    that this would mean the family has to move to Washington. At the
    first glance Jason has problems with this but after he heard about
    what a wonderful chance this is he turns pro. Carol is pro, too,
    but Ben is against it and Mike ... Mike just thinks this is kind
    of a trick.

    Mike proposes to Kate so he has someone for cooking and cleaning
    when his mom won't be there any longer. Of course, Kate, totally
    upset, turns him down. Ben is still strictly against moving and
    Maggie already wants to decide against the job. But after Mike
    talked to him, Ben offers a deal.
