Date & Time....
June 4th at 6 pm - June 5th at 10 am
We invited 7 girls so there
would be a total of 8. 2 of the girls came for only part of the night
and weren't able to spend the night. 4 of the 8 girls are big beanie
collectors, the other 4 had a few beanies, but familiar with a lot of them.
They ALL had lots of fun!
Here's what we did...
6-6:30....When the girls arrived,
I had different colored heart and star stickers... the girls picked a sticker
and I put one on their favorite beanies tush tag, one on them and one on
a list by their name so no one's beanies would get mixed up.
6:30.... pizza, chips and soda
7:30.... games started
OF COURSE... in all these games
we used my daughters beanies that didn't have tags on them... we didn't
want to take a chance of ripping, or bending a tag. Each time they
won, they were giving a red construction paper heart... these were used
for the party favors game. We also played each of the games a few
times, because the girls wanted to keep playing them.
pinata.... I gave them
ziploc bags to collect the candy with and put a matching star or heart
sticker on the bag to keep them separte.
Then we took a break from games
to open gifts. After Kezia opened her gifts she handed out beanie
sleeping bags that I had made to each of the girls, then we had ice cream
birthday cake!
After cake 2 girls had to leave....
They played beanie pictionary
they got in 2 groups of 3 with 2 beanie collectors on each team.
They had Kezia's bucket of beanies nearby to get ideas of which beanie
to draw. They had to guess the name and beanie. We have a wall
painted with chalkboard paint and that's where they drew them... it was
fun to watch them. I also printed out he find the
14 new beanies off the TY page for
each girl
We made beanie necklaces
I had letter beads and other beads and elastic thread and they put their
name or beanie name on the necklace. There were enough beads that
each girl ended up making 2-3 necklaces each.
They watched some movies I
rented for them.... and then I went to bed. When I work up, they
had their breakfast menus already for me. If I ever did it again,
I would make up in advance heart shaped menus and let them put their name
on it and mark what they wanted. I took their menus and on heart
shaped pieces of paper, wrote their names and what each girl wanted and
put it on their plate. This made it much easier for doing their breakfast.
We had cinnamon rolls, french toast, eggs, toast, juice and milk.
I let the girls sleep until 9am... and ended up extending the party till
11am so they would have time to eat breakfast and pack up their stuff.
We had more games planned and
didn't get time for them. We were going to make up a new beanie
and play which beanie is missing where you take a pile of beanies
and each take turns taking one out and the others guess which one it was....
we'll save these for the NEXT BEANIE SLUMBER PARTY! We're already
making plans for maybe the end of summer.... this time we'll have each
girl bring a new TY beanie and have a beanie exchange.
The party really didn't cost
me much. Each girl took home a new beanie, beanie sleeping bag, and
beanie necklace. I want to say a very special THANK YOU
to the people who own THE SMALL MALL in Tioga, Pennsylvania,
a town near us. They have kept the prices of their beanies to $5,
even for Peace, Princess and Erin. We just got Princess last
week!!!! And they called and have Erin for us now, so we need
to go pick him up!!!! They also still sell Valentino and Curly
for $5, but limit you to 1 each time it comes to your name on the list....
they bent the rules a little and let me have an extra Valentino and Curly
for the girls party favors. It is so good to still see businesses
out there selling TY beanies and keeping them affordable and remembering
the children. THANKS so much Linda...
