LUIGI'S MANSION: CONTROLS AND CAMERA
Luigi's Mansion is a very unique game and controls like no other.

First of all, you don't control Luigi with the control stick! Instead, you use the Camera Stick to control Luigi. The Control Stick is used to control the direction of Luigi's flashlight. This way, you can move Luigi one way, and point his flishlight another way.

You use the R Button to suck things up with Luigi's Vacuem Cleaner. The Z Button is used to squirt water out of the vacuem . . . Which has no known use yet.

And finally, the L Button is for using Luigi's Game Boy Color. Which will help you find the location of ghosts.

One weird thing about the controls in Luigi's Mansion is that there is no jump button.

Luigi and Mario forefather Shigeru Myimoto said that the reason was, jump influences action. And he wanted this to be more of an adventure game. He also wanted it to be different than most other Mario games, not just another platformer, so the jump button was altogether ommited.

Luigi's Mansion also has a very uniqe camera system. While the game remains in 3D, when you are exploring skinny corridors and hallways, the camera will move behind the wall (Which becomes transparent so you can see Luigi through it) and will remain in a 2D fashion. Where you just move Luigi left or right, and the camera will just scroll in either direction. So, it plays out like a 2D game when your controlling Luigi for most of the time. Only going 3D for certain instances. Although this may not sound to good, it actually makes the game easier to control and play.

Altogether, the controls and camera in Luigi's Mansion have been well thought out by Shigeru Myimoto, and remain easy and intuitive.
