Spider webs
Across my path.
Hallmarks of inattention.
I feel them tear
As I become aware
Of my quiet passage.
I hadn't been
Here in a while.
As each tinsel broke,
My emotions spoke...
When had I last been here?
As I stand
And look around,
Watching each strand
Fall onto the ground,
I feel somewhat empty
And alone.
Lost in the blankness
Of my gaze,
I realized through
The clearing haze
We were all connected
By strands of thought.
But it's only
When we listen.
In the sun of our attention,
Connecting thoughts
Will glisten...
We're decidedly more aware.
Thoughts gleaming in the light;
Passing quickly on tenuous thread,
The books of our lives
Begin to be read.
A deep yearning
For connection
Moves between us...
A river of silken stars
Flowing to the sea of God.
I hope these
Soft words
Now begin
To resound you.
For you see
Without intention
I've spun
A poet's web
Of my invention
All around you.
And, while doing so,
I meant to ask
And forgot to say...
How long has it been
Since you passed this way?
