·  USS Valiant
· 4 years on USS Hathaway
· 3 years on USS Belarius (CMO)

PRIME MOTIVATIONS:
· To save lives and/or prevent suffering whenever he can.
· To seek out new lifeforms and new civilizations and learn about them.

AMBITIONS:
· To be the best doctor he can and to develop new ways of saving lives.
· To develop an inoculation against the Irekian Encephalitis (which swept through his home colony after he joined Starfleet).

GENERAL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:  Compassionate, with the devotion borne of a lifetime freely given to the lives of others. He’s an entertaining person, but kind of haphazard in his personal life, he’s so single minded in his cause. He’s quick, both in mind and body, but has concentrated so much on the medicine that (extremely rarely) he misses the answers to things he might have known if he’d been less focused - when he realizes this, he feels guilty and that it’s a flaw in himself that it might be too late to rectify, though he has tried to catch up. Passionate and manipulative. Cheery and friendly. He’s customarily a light hearted person, save for his rare guilt trips, cheering those in Sickbay’s confines (and always ensuring those who are there long term have something to do). He cares, and hates to see anyone sick and suffering, doing anything to stop it. He laughs a lot - he enjoys life. Generally he’s happy.

HOBBIES/RECREATION:
· He won’t holiday at resorts, considering them too artificial, telling him nothing of the true people and their culture.
· He hikes, likes lone bushwalks, though he would join K’Teira and Jedera occasionally.
· He may sometimes be found in the Arboretum.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tall, but not as tall as Grieg, skinny. Handsome in a bony aesthetic kind of way - if not for his natural pigmentation, often he’d have no real colour at all. Longish black hair swept back from his face and kept in a pigtail (hair is shoulder length when loose). Tan skin, hazel eyes. (Faint Indian accent) (6’1").

WHY CHARACTER JOINED STARFLEET:   To meet new people and to have the resources at this command to do all he wants to do. Starfleet was the best choice of education for someone who wants to help everyone who is ill or needs medical assistance, regardless or race or species.

PERSONAL HISTORY: Born on the Yokin IV colony. Always had a desire to be a healer, and entered Starfleet Academy at the earliest opportunity to do just that. While he was away, a visiting ship to the colony brought with it a type of viral encephalitis that decimated the population. Though his family was spared, many of his friends were killed, and he took leave for a year to help the colony get back on its feet. After he graduated, he was assigned to the Valiant, where he first met James Grieg, who was on leave from the Academy visiting his father. Being two of the youngest on the ship and with some common experience between them, they became friends, and kept in touch on and off throughout the years. When they were assigned to the same ship, Eden was pleased. He worked hard for his Lieutenant Commander status, and his CMO position, and is a great doctor.

PERSONAL DETAILS:
· His quarters are often a mess (well, as messy as a Starfleet trained person could get).
· He doesn’t want bridge officer status. He’s too busy in Sickbay!
· He has an interest in other cultures and peoples, but is usually too busy with research or medicine to follow it up.
· He’s thankful he has Lisa Willbanks there with him; they make a good team. He’s a fantastic medical doctor and administrator, she’s got the wider knowledge base to give him clues of where to go when medicine isn’t enough.
· He’s friendly and jovial, and can be cajoled out into mainstream life. He even seeks it out himself when he feels he’s getting too close to a problem to see the full picture. He’s not a dead serious bore!
· He is a practicing Hindu, but not the practice isn’t as rigid in exclusions and in the caste system as they once were. However, do not serve beef to him!
· He likes some Klingon food (further proof of how different the Hindu belief is in the 24th Century) and has been known to swap traditional Indian food for K’Teira’s Klingon food at "BYO cuisine" dinner parties they occasionally have.
· His parents and sister still live on the colony.
· He believes his holiday time is his own to do with as he pleases, and he usually takes it in a lone communing with nature - i.e., he goes camping alone.
· The real spelling of his name is "Edanu", but he hated being called "Danny", so he changed the "a" to an "e" and got rid of the "u". Sometimes he jokingly wonders why so many people who hate their names or nicknames were assigned together - "Jim" Grieg, "Juliana" Willbanks, "Dan" Pendehar and Matthew Daniels!
· He tells himself when he’s forced into a choice between his Hippocratic Oath and his Starfleet Oath, "If I was unmerciful, I’d have joined Security instead!".
· He’s not overtly argumentative (save with Grieg, but that’s all in fun) - he’s manipulative; the type who’ll leave images of sick and dying children on your e-mail and "leave it up to you" whether to accept an assignment to a plagued planet or not; though he’s usually more subtle than that!
· He has lots of PADDs and even books in his quarters - he feels a compulsion to try and catch up on what he missed, but he’s usually better off asking someone else.
· He’s a walking repository on medical information, and he can remember any procedure he has seen, even if it was only once.
· He speaks Hindustani and Standard.

FAMILY DETAILS:
· Father - Sarastshiva Pendehar, farmer, alive
· Mother, Rani Pendehar, farmer, alive
· Sister, Nelum Pendehar, alive

FAMILY HISTORY:
· He is the eldest of two.
· His parents are farmers, thought of highly in their community
· His sister is married.

SECRETS IN BACKGROUND?:

FUTURE MILESTONES?: Something very strange happens to him on a shoreleave - he gets infected by a crystalline parasite which can’t be removed on the Fairburn, but he refuses to be taken to a Starbase for more tests.

DETAIL RELATIONSHIPS WITH:

Susan Randall: He likes his new Captain very much. He likes the fact that she’s a person as well as an officer, and isn’t a curmudgeon like so many others can be. He also appreciates the fact she will listen to her heart as well as her head, and that she knows how to balance the two.

James Grieg:   They’ve been friends for a long time now, and followed each others’ climbs up through the ranks. They share private things that perhaps their other friends mightn’t understand, or even things about those friends! He teases James about his lack of compassion, but knows all too well just how James is eaten away by some of the decisions he has to make.

K'Teira:   What? A Klingon Counsellor? How? Yet when she countered his questions with a mock-surprised, "What? A human still practicing religion?", he got the idea. He thinks her unique and one of the true characters of the ship. He values her bravery and is proud to call her friend. He is also the main petitioners for getting her to dance publicly, once he and Grieg spring her at rehearsals one night.

Rell: Eden is yet another person targeted for story telling, but as Rell and Eden are dedicated men devoted to their own sections, they wouldn’t see much of each other outside of emergency conditions or staff meetings. He appreciates the fact that the Engineer always makes the time to visit with anyone from Engineering who has been confined to Sickbay, as it shows he sees his people as more than underlings.

Elek: He’s one of the very few who knows she is biologically a Romulan, but it doesn’t bother him - well, not so much as the notion of a Klingon Counsellor did! Elek was raised as a Vulcan, so that’s how he treats her. They wouldn’t have very much to do with each other in the outset. However, he would be "her" doctor.

Ian Randall: Ethics and comparative morality aside, I think these two would like each other! They’re both scientists, both committed (or should be), and they’d help each other out a lot. He’d pull Ian back into reality and Ian’d stretch Eden’s mind.

Thomas Moore:  A good officer who needs more healing than Eden can provide.  He feels sorry for him, to an extent, though he can also be horrified by some of his attitudes about current enemies.  This may come to override his sorrow.

Kylen Dubois:  He'd like her, and appreciates the fact she allows he and Ian to 'have their way with her' - scientifically, of course!  He'd call her friend, eventually.

Berry Mogaddi: They would grow to be good friends, as while Eden admires her intelligence and is in awe of her abilities, he also enjoys her company.

Matthew Daniels: Eden knows that Daniels isn’t directing the angst at him personally, but it’s hard to remember when Daniels is busily ignoring him when he’s being so entertaining to everyone else. He knows that Daniels will eventually come around, but it’s hard when he has been nothing but good to him.

Jedera: Jedera would sometimes be assigned to help out in Sickbay if it became necessary for a Sciences presence there, and Eden would enjoy his enthusiastic company. There aren’t many Ralexim in Starfleet, and he’s glad to have one at such close quarters - their lust for life and learning is contagious.

Jondalar Barlok: I doubt they’d have much to do with each other, but Eden would find Jondalar’s culture and biology fascinating

Lisa Willbanks: She’s one of three other physicians they have on staff, and she’s his Second, he trusts her so well. She makes up the other half of a good command pairing, and he is thankful she is on his team. He intends to train her up into being one of the best CMOs in the Fleet, and hopes she can overcome her lack of patience with administrative tasks so she can. She’s his junior, but he mostly sees her as an equal despite the disparagy in their ranks, only occasionally having to take her to task. He knows she thinks highly of Grieg, but will keep it secret until he sees she needs to talk it through with someone.

Viana Jancris:

Joenn: Another scientist he might have assigned to Sickbay occasionally; I doubt if he’d know her all that well, at least yet.

Chianeé Deserine: He’d like her.
