PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENTS:
· USS Beckett
· USS Yorktown
· USS London
· USS Dalton
· USS Mandela
PRIME MOTIVATIONS:
AMBITIONS:
· Has no interest in a Captaincy,
but has been working towards becoming a Commander.
· Is trying to fit in and
would like to feel secure, but finds it difficult to relate to others and
to fully trust them, for fear they will discover she is Romulan.
GENERAL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
Is excessively logical, but is given to irrational outbursts if she isn't
careful. Has some trouble controlling her Romulan passions.
Is a loner and tries to avoid social situations. Doesn't have any
"true" friends as she does her best to keep others at a distance.
Is sometimes dangerously forthright and doesn't hesitate to put forward
her opinion. Appears to the majority of the crew to be the typical
Vulcan; intelligent, distant and rather cold; at least until she lets the
fascade slip. She's a good and patient teacher.
HOBBIES/RECREATION:
· Gardening - has a plot
in the arboretum.
· Plays the flute; both
this hobby and the gardening her mother encouraged her in to help curb
her Romulan tendencies.
· Will join K'Teira in performing
the Mok'bara.
· Uses calisthenics programs.
· When not doing anything
else, she meditates.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Long
brown hair, pulled back into a bun in public. Flexible and wiry in
stature. Looks Vulcan owing to surgical alterations. Blue coloured
eyes. No accent.
WHY CHARACTER JOINED STARFLEET:
Not being a true Vulcan and not having access to her Romulan heritage has
made Elek an outsider in society. She saw Starfleet as a place where
she could be accepted for who she was, not her bloodline. She saw
Starfleet as the place where she could excel. For Elek, it was a
logical choice.
PERSONAL HISTORY: Elek was
born on Romulus. When she was a one year old, her parents were killed
while in the process of defection, and were in Federation space when the
ship was boarded and the occupants slaughtered. She was the only
survivor as her mother had hidden her in a Jeffries tube. The ship was
found a day later by the Sanford, a Starfleet science vessel.
Whilst investigating, a Vulcan lieutenant discovered Elek. It is
unknown who boarded the vessel and killed her parents. She was then
raised as a Vulcan aboard that science vessel, having been adopted by the
lieutenant who found her, but the nature of the mission meant that she
and her adoptive siblings missed out on learning the true Vulcan way, as
the ship was on a deep space assignment, and didn't return to Federation
space for over ten years.
PERSONAL DETAILS:
· Is prone to what she considers
irrational outbursts. This is explained to those who do not know
about her past as she was raised with her adopted siblings aboard the predominantly
human crewed science vessel Sanford. She struggles with this.
· Though Vulcan didn't shun her
outright, officials did have a tendency of seeing her as a potential
disruptive influence on other Vulcans. She picked up on this, and
so when it came to her adoptive parents' re-assignment time and the three
children were given the choice of staying on Vulcan to train in the kolinahr
or to ship out with them, Elek went with them. Her brother and sister
stayed.
· She was often transferred,
so she keeps all her possessions in a footlocker. She finds it illogical
to unpack everything.
· Her personal file is closely
guarded and the only officers who know she is Romulan are the Captain,
the CMO and the Counsellor.
· She is interested in anthropology
and the religious development of other cultures. She would be very
interested in the Klingon and Bajoran beliefs, but her nature is such that
they might clash.
· As a condition of entrance
into Starfleet, she has been disallowed to return to Romulus (well, if
anyone from the Federation was allowed to go there, anyway...)
· She was placed through
extensive testing (including tests she knew nothing of) before entering
Starfleet.
· She's a bit of a perfectionist
and sometimes becomes frustrated with herself.
· She is able to mind-meld,
owing to a latent Vulcan telepathic tendency, but WILL NOT
do it to anyone save those who already know she is Romulan owing to the
"sharing of souls" involved in the Meld. She's not all that terrific
at it, even then.
· She can do the Vulcan
Neck Pinch.
· She will be hesitant when
K'Teira invited her to join her in the Mok'bara, but now seems to
enjoy it.
· Spartan, barren room -
basic quarters, foot locker at the bottom of her bed. She isn't accustomed
to having guests.
· Rubs "absent ridges" when
stressed - this is an unconscious act.
· Realises she will probably
never get a Captaincy unless it is of a science vessel, so does not aspire
so high.
· Plays the flute.
· The arboretum was the
reason she chose to transfer to the Fairburn.
FAMILY DETAILS:
· Mother - unknown (dec).
Adoptive mother,
· Father - unknown (dec).
Adoptive father,
· Adoptive brother
· Adoptive sister
FAMILY HISTORY:
· Her mother is the Captain
of the USS Curie
· Her father is a midshipman
· Her brother is a terraformer,
whilst her sister is living on Vulcan.
SECRETS IN BACKGROUND?:
She's Romulan. The only officers who know this are Captain Randall,
Doctor Pendehar and Counsellor K'Teira.
Who were the
people who killed her family? Why? If they were Romulan, why
didn't Starfleet know they were there and respond; if they were someone
else, why? Why didn't Starfleet know the Neutral Zone had been breached
by the defecting vessel, or was someone turning a blind eye?
Why was she
put under such stringent tests, and what does the Admiral who has been
hindering her progress through the Fleet have against her? Racism
is a bit outdated (against the Roms, anyway), so that can't be the whole
reason. Does it have anything to do with the original slaughter?
FUTURE MILESTONES?: Will
eventually be promoted, only when it is discovered that a high ranking
official has been blocking the promotions. This will take at
least three years. This revelation should be delayed as long
as possible.
DETAIL RELATIONSHIPS WITH:
Susan
Randall: Susan is her Captain, and one who seems prepared to
give her more of a chance than others have. She is an excellent officer
despite her time away from the Fleet. This is all she requires in
way of opinion. Anything more would be disrespectful.
James
Grieg: He is a thoughtful, even intriguing individual.
It is heartening for her to see that even the emotional humans can attain
some form of emotional balance, and talking with him is not a chore.
K’Teira:
A curious individual at best. At the beginning Elek was wary of dealing
with her, seeing the ancient enmity between their two peoples. However
K'Teira with subtle moves and work managed to get Elek to attend counselling
sessions, even though they are 'unofficials'. She will eventually
join K'Teira in the Mok'bara exercises.
Eden
Pendehar: One who knows her secret, and is circumspect enough
to be able to hide this from everyone else in Sickbay - a cesspool of gossip
at the best of times. This is good, and Elek might even come to trust
him to some degree in the future.
Rell:
He works closely with Elek, and is a good worker. She privately admires
how well Engineering runs under his tutelage.
Ian
Randall: She appreciates his knowledge and drive, though she
feels he should be more strict with certain of his staff members, given
their potential.
Thomas Moore:
A good officer... but privately she is shaken by his determination to protect
them from enemies... such as the Romulans. She wonders what he would
do if he found out her background.
Kylen Dubois:
She wouldn't go too close to her, knowing her as an ex-Intelligence officer
who can read minds even past her blocks.
Berry
Moggadí: A good officer in the making.
Matthew
Daniels: Daniels is one of the greatest fears in her life.
Not because of who he is or what he does, but because of the way his casual
insubordination irritates her. She knows that if her control cracks,
it'll be because of him.
Jedera:
A fascinating being who seeks to know so much. Another good officer
in the making.
Jondalar Barlok:
Too chatty for her taste, but an excellent pilot.
Lisa Willbanks:
An annoyance; she doesn't understand her jealousy.
Viana Jancris:
Joenn:
A potentially brilliant officer who is wasting her talent down in Sciences.
She feels that Joenn should be forced to meet her potential head on or
it will be wasted.
Chianeé
Deserine: Elek would detest her on sight; the Prarrian is far
too 'feely' for her liking. |
