Terigan Rell

Rell

FULL NAME: Terigan Erkriab Rell

KNOWN AS: Rell

PRONOUNCED:  (REHL)

NICKNAMES/ALIASES: N/A

RANK:  Lieutenant Commander

SPECIES:  Bolian

POSITION:  Chief of Engineering, USS Fairburn

GENDER:  Male

HOME WORLD:  Bolius IX

PLANET OF BIRTH: Bolius IX

MARITAL STATUS:  Married to Wransif Rell

RELIGION/BELIEFS:  N/A

PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENTS:
·  USS Trieste
·  Utopia Planitia Ship Yards - subcommittee on Project Fairburn.

PRIME MOTIVATIONS:
·  The Fairburn is his baby, his dream of seeing a ship right through from planning stages to embarking on its missions being realized with this ship.  It's his life and his love.

AMBITIONS:
·  To keep the Fairburn in the best condition possible.
·  Rather nihilistic, he wants to die with the ship if it's destroyed.

GENERAL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:   Jolly, rather boisterous and with the air of someone who has found his place in life.  He is immediately friendly with those in his division (a common ground of interest), and only slightly less with those from outside until he becomes used to them.  He's dedicated and driven, passionate about the Fairburn but also extremely caring for his crew; e.g., if someone from his division is injured or sick or whatever, he will always make the time to go out and see them.  He is talkative, once you get past the "distant" barrier, and will tell you a million and one stories from his experience in the Fleet if you will let him.  He's good natured and happy, but don't use that as an excuse to shirk duty as he will come down on you like a ton of bricks.  He'll joke around and engineering is quite a happy place, but don't take advantage of that.  He doesn't like having his nature used against him and will feel betrayed.

HOBBIES/RECREATION:
·  His idea of relaxation is to sit in the darkened Main Engineering and watch the warp core throb!
·  He reads technical journals.
·  Grieg once convinced him to leave Engineering for a while to go diving with him - now Rell goes most times with him - but only planetside, not on the holodeck.
·  Telling his stories.  They're a main part of his style of communication and they always have a point.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:  Slightly above the average Terran in height, but powerfully built.  He may look obese, but it's all muscle.  No hair and the standard "seam" splitting his head and face in two.  Azure skin, green eyes.  American, alien tinged accent. (5'11")

WHY CHARACTER JOINED STARFLEET:  He thought he'd learn more amongst other races than from just the Bolians.

PERSONAL HISTORY:  He feels as though he's been in the Fleet forever.  He and his partner applied to the Academy, but only he was accepted.  She didn't mind and was supportive of him even as she joined the Bolian Home Fleet.  He worked and studied hard to get where he is, and was so good at his work that he was asked to head a Starfleet subcommittee on the Fairburn project, which he did.  At the end of this, he was given two choices - stay there and lend his talents to the Utopia Planitia yards as a Commander, or stay at his current rank for a while longer and move to the Fairburn as her Chief.  He followed his baby.

PERSONAL DETAILS:
·  He doesn't often sleep in his quarters, spending almost all of his time in Engineering; a small cot is set up in an out of the way corner in case of emergency conditions.
·  His quarters aren't empty, though.  There's a computer console there, many PADDs, engineering tools and gifts from his family.  His most prized possession is a portrait of himself and the Fairburn done by his daughter.  Oh, and there's standard furnishings in there as well.
·  He and his family don't see each other much, but they are happy with the arrangement as both of them have their own lives - Triann would visit and stay with her father for half the year, and she takes after her father in the engineering genius she displays.  They keep in contact as much as possible and arrange to meet around twice a year.
·  He worries about the lack of a stable home life Triann has.

FAMILY DETAILS:
·  Wife - Wransif, pilot on Bolian Cruiser Ekilahr, alive.
·  Daughter - Triann, student, alive.

FAMILY HISTORY:
·  He was partnered early in his life to Wransif, who didn't get into the Academy only because there was one place available and Rell got a better test score than her.

DETAIL RELATIONSHIPS WITH:

Susan Randall He likes her and thinks her a great Captain, but she'd better not hurt his ship!

James Grieg:  He appreciates Grieg’s attempts at storytelling, though he often tells him not to give up his day job!  He really enjoys the diving expeditions they go on.  He's grateful Grieg thought to invite him along, as he never knew what he was missing.  Grieg is a friend to him.

K’Teira:  She is an amazing thing to behold - a Klingon Counsellor?  She can cope with anything, and is so different to the stereotype he likes seeing her in unfamiliar situations just so he can admire her coping abilities.  They tease one another and became friends very quickly.

Eden Pendehar:  They wouldn't see much of each other, but Rell knows they are kindreds in that each are single minded to the point of obsession.  He appreciates the compassion Eden has for those from Rell’s team he has in his care, as well as those linked to them.

Elek:  She's hard, but she knows much that'll help him keep the Fairburn running, and he likes her for that.

Ian Randall:  Rell doesn't like being told when to have power upgrades ready by, as he's already worked out his schedule based on what is most important, but apart from the annoyance Ian is, they'd work well together as some of their goals coincide.

Thomas Moore

Kylen Dubois:  Is happy to spin a story for her any time of the day or night, as long as there isn't an emergency situation going on, that is!  Is stimulated by their engineering talks, and would happily tinker right along beside her, finding a fellow potterer in her.

Berry Mogaddi:  A great help for the civilians and new crewmembers in times of crisis and  when the Counsellor is unavailable - he likes her.

Matthew Daniels"The day Daniels grows up is the day Starfleet gets one of the finest officers it will ever have."  Their  personalities are somewhat similar, Rell truly believes Daniels could be great, and they work well together.  They are friends.

Jedera:  He would love to talk to him for hours, as he sees intense curiosity and a love of tales in Jedera.

Jondalar Barlok:  He enjoys helping Jondalar in his research, but is scared of him - his piloting techniques in emergency situations do horrible things to the ship's structure, not to mention the engines and thrusters!  At least Jondalar keeps his mind occupied trying to come up with countering the damage done and outfitting the Fairburn for some of his more outrageous manoeuvres.

Lisa Willbanks:  He wouldn't really know her, except in Sickbay where she is a good doctor.

Viana Jancris:

Joenn:  He wouldn't know her except as a good Stellarcartographer who is highly praised in her section.

Chianeé Deserine:  He wouldn't see her much, but they'll trade tales cheerfully if they do meet.
