PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENTS:
· USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D
· Starfleet Intelligence
PRIME MOTIVATIONS:
AMBITIONS:
· To follow in her father's
footsteps and captain a starship.
· To serve her captain to
the best of her ability.
GENERAL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION:
Kylen is a typical Olympian. Calm, controlled and brilliant. Always in
complete control of her emotions... or at least appears to be. She is reserved
but friendly, with a well developed sense of humor, she's never without
a comeback and is known for her quick-witted sarcasm. She is an immensely
private person. She will not force anyone to talk to her and in return
does not wish anyone to try and force anything from her. She waits for
the other person to volunteer what they want to say. She doesn't pry. And
because of this people talk to her. She is extremely efficient at
her work. And is, at heart, a tinkerer. She can disassemble and reassemble
a communicator in under two hours. The original designers
of her station wouldn't recognize it. Kylen has made many improvements
on the design and continues to do so when her work duty is light.
HOBBIES/RECREATION:
· Kylen is an adept of her homeworld's
warrior arts and practises them frequently, teaching anyone who asks. Her
choice weapon is a staff.
· Plays Sharash’di.
· Kylen also loves history and
archaeology.
· She has a great fascination
with 20th century culture. The movies, books, music.
Particularly the Sci-fi movies and books
that tried to predict the future. She finds them incredibly amusing.
· She also loves reading and the
arts.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Kylen
is petite, slender with piercing hazel eyes and long, thick chestnut hair
which she normally wears up in varying styles, which to most seem elaborate
but are merely styles native to her Olympian culture. She possesses
an air of aristocracy common to her people. (Olympian accent [somewhat
like a combination of Greek/English]) (5'5")
WHY CHARACTER JOINED STARFLEET:
Because Kylen's a hybrid she never really felt at home on Earth or Olympus.
When she was on one she was thinking of the other and never really felt
a part of either culture. In space she found a home. It was a place where
it didn't matter what world she was from, there she was home.
PERSONAL HISTORY:
Kylen was born on Earth where her mother
had met a young Starfleet officer and had fallen in
love. The affair was brief due to the fact he shipped out on a deep space
mission a few weeks later.
He never knew of Kylen or her twin sister's
birth and shortly after, once the twins were old enough to travel, her
mother accepted a Federation funded dig on a planet near the edge
of the Alpha Quadrant. A planet believed
to be a Preserver colony world.
Twenty two years later, Kylen met her
father when she transferred aboard his ship as a communications
specialist. In reality the new communications chief was also a member of
Starfleet Intelligence. And served as both the communications officer
and the captain's link to the Commander
In Chief of Starfleet. Admiral Delaniea. She
served with him for nearly five years before transferring to the Fairburn.
PERSONAL DETAILS:
· Kylen is a member of the Fairburn’s
crew but she is not a part of the crew. Her hybrid identity holds her aloof.
· She is half Olympian, a race
suspected to be the Preservers (A fact they neither confirm nor deny.).
· Like all Olympians, Kylen possess
immensely strong telepathic/empathic abilities. Her people
have a native language but converse more through thoughts then the spoken
word.
· She also shows signs of telekinesis
and various other mysterious abilities, (i.e., manifesting energy in various
forms). These other abilities have earned her a nickname among the Fairburn’s
junior officers, 'The Witch'. Not because of her disposition which
is rather pleasant. But because she has been known to 'zap' people. (Small
charge of electricity); an ability the captain has been known to utilize
on occasion.
· Her form of telekinesis not
only allows her to move objects with her mind or form static charges of
energy, but also enables to create small objects by manipulates the matter
around her. She can reform the building blocks of air and the like (along
with some other things) into different patterns, thereby creating new things
out of it, but this is a tiring process, and with the more complicated
an item is, the more tired she will become.
· Her precognition is undirected
and vague. She gets flashes, images, or it will come to her in a
dream. It doesn't really make any sense to her though.
· Her mental shields are extremely
strong; they block out even the ambient mental babble other telepaths have
problems with. A telepath would not get through it unless she allowed
them to, or was incapacitated in some way.
· She is a powerful telepath -
there isn't much she can't get through when she's at her peak.
· Kylen spends a great deal
of time reading and the like and has been known to write the odd holo-novel
for her friends.
· Her mother is a respected Federation
archaeologist and her father is a well-known Starfleet captain.
FAMILY DETAILS:
· Mother - Selena, alive, Archaeologist.
· Father - ????, alive
· Sister - Jeiana, alive, Archaeologist.
FAMILY HISTORY:
Both her mother and sister are working
on an archaeological dig on Mt Olympus. (The Earth mountain, not the planet)
SECRETS IN BACKGROUND?: Kylen
has more secrets than anything.
For years she
hid her identity as a Olympian/Human hybrid. (The Olympians had been living
secretly in the Federation since its genesis and on Earth prior to that
for millennia. It was quite the scandal when their homeworld was discovered.
Also quite a coup. The Olympians had been using their telepathy and their
technology to hide for millennia)
Kylen also hides her father's identity.
Few people on the Fairburn know that Kylen Dubois' father is Captain
Jean Luc Picard and Kylen has no intention to spread that fact. She
requested, and got, her personal file classified
by the CinC. To view it requires either Kylen's or Admiral Delaneia's approval.
She refuses to rise up through Starfleet on anything but her own merit.
She doesn't want any special treatment based on her father's identity.
But her biggest secret was was caused her to transfer off the Enterprise
and resign from Starfleet Intelligence.
On Stardate
46357.4, Kylen joined her father, Lieutenant Worf, and Dr. Crusher on an
intelligence mission.
They infiltrated a
Cardassian installation on Celtris lll with orders from Admiral Nechayev
and the Commander in Chief to determine whether or not the Cardassians
were manufacturing a Metagenic weapon ( biological equivalent to a neutron
bomb). Kylen's orders from Starfleet Intelligence were to assist
Picard, but also to gather as much information on Cardassian codes &
Communications systems as she could. Which she did. However, the
Cardassians discovered them and trapped them. Kylen and her father were
tortured. Horribly. Kylen has been emotionally scarred by the event.
She keeps the pain to herself unless in a counselling session. But even
there it has to be coaxed out.
Only four people
aboard the Fairburn know of that mission: the captain and her husband,
Commander Grieg and Counsellor K’Teira.
FUTURE MILESTONES?:
Kylen will come face to face with various
elements of her past.
DETAIL RELATIONSHIPS WITH:
Susan
Randall: Kylen respects her. She sees someone who understands some
of what Kylen underwent during her
time aboard the Enterprise and her capture by the Cardassians.
Kylen sees her as a mentor and the kind of Captain she wishes to be.
James
Grieg: Kylen respects him. Sees him as a possible friend. Especially
due to
their common love of 20th century culture.
She does notice however that whenever he's near she gets an odd mental
emanation from him and is easily able to pick him out of the crowd. She
is hesitant to approach him about it.
K’Teira:
Kylen trusts her like no one else on Fairburn. Kylen was a very
close friend of Worf's (Keeps in constant contact with him) and has a deep
respect and understanding of the Klingon culture. Because of this she knows
that she can share things with K’Teira that she can't with anyone else
aboard the Fairburn. Kylen understands K’Teira’s frustration with
elements of the Klingon culture and considers K’Teira to be one of her
closest friends.
Eden
Pendehar: Kylen respects him but she's wary of him, most likely because
he's a
doctor and Kylen had always been wary
of anyone who knew of her hybrid genetics.
Despite that she learns to trust him.
Even use him as sounding board for some of her
ideas. He's not afraid to tell her what
he thinks and she likes that.
Rell:
Kylen loves him. He's one of the few people who can be guaranteed to make
her smile. She could listen to his crazy 'Fleet stories for hours. Also
she can debate Engineering techniques
with him.
Elek:
Because of her telepathy Kylen quickly realized Elek’s true identity. But
despite her Intelligence past, Kylen
chose to keep the secret. Probably because she remembers the witchhunt
that had once taken place aboard the Enterprise and has no wish
for Elek to be victim to anything remotely similar. Kylen doesn't throw
people to the wolves for no reason and she doesn't perceive Elek as a threat
so therefore doesn't want to cause her any undue stress.
Ian
Randall: Kylen respects him as a scientist and makes it a point to
drop by the labs with any information she has about her mother's work on
Olympus. Knowing that it interests him greatly. She also knows that
the Olympian physiology fascinates him and Eden so she reluctantly
will participate in the odd experiment that the duo may be working on together.
(Much to the captain's amusement)
Thomas Moore:
Kylen and Moore once worked together and are old comrades. However
while he can't understand why she left Starfleet Intelligence, she can't
understand why he stayed. They are friends but Kylen is still wary of him
because she knows that it could develop into more but she's not sure if
she could handle it with him still doing Intelligence work.
Berry
Moggadí: Kylen proves to be a challenge for the young Betazoid.
Olympians have such thick shielding
that it is impossible for Betazoids to read them. And Berry and Kylen
have a running game to see if Berry can break
through the elder woman's shielding. Kylen considers Berry to be a friend
and is constantly helping the younger woman hone her abilities.
(Something she did with Deanna Troi while stationed aboard the Enterprise)
Matthew
Daniels: Kylen tolerates him, barely. She's never had someone test
her emotional control so frequently.
She knows he's wary of her abilities and constantly tries to put
him at ease. However she finds his informality can be somewhat trying and
has been known to send the odd static
charge flying his way.
Jedera:
Kylen sees him as someone who she could think of as a younger sibling.
He is one of the few people who can ask her any question about her culture
and actually receive an answer.
Jondalar Barlok:
Kylen feels somewhat of a kinship with him due to the fact they are both
loners in the crew. She sometimes takes her problems to him. Usually ones
that have to do with her status as the only crewmember aboard the Fairburn
with Olympian blood. Kylen has been known to collaborate with him on some
of his pranks.
Lisa Willbanks:
Kylen is friendly towards Lisa and
since both women are known for their sarcasm the duo occasionally engage
in a little verbal sparring. Otherwise they have very little contact.
Viana Jancris:
Kylen respects her especially since she remembers what Viana did at Wolf
359 and enjoys working with her because of that. She likes her and thinks
she's a talented officer.
Joenn:
Kylen also agrees that Joenn should move
towards command and tries to teach her a few tricks about Communications
and codes. Kylen knows that Joenn needs to be eased towards command and
will tell her stories about her father, trying to acclimate her with the
idea of commanding a starship. (Always cautious to omit his name)
Chianeé
Deserine: Kylen spends a great deal of time talking to Chianee. She
remembers that (from her experience with Guinan) bartenders can prove to
be very wise people and will often talk to her about problems Kylen has
in her personal life. |
