AMBITIONS:
GENERAL PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Intelligent, thoughtful, subtle, cunning, manipulative, curious and inquiring. She appears calm, distantly friendly, charming and a good ear who’ll listen without "turning Counsellor", but on the inside or away from her professional persona, she is also passionate; she has a temper, but it has a slow fuse and it NEVER ignites in company. She is sympathetic, caring, patient and understanding. She knows how to use strength to survive, be it emotional, physical or mental strength required of her. She is honest in all dealings, though she’d have to be asked outright about certain aspects of her past, believing them to be private business - she won’t just mention them in passing. She loves people and wants to know them, getting groups talking just so she can observe their interactions. She loves a good joke, and isn’t above dry remarks and comments. She won't show her emotions easily... there is usually a reason if you can see what she's feeling. A complex being. HOBBIES/RECREATION:
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tall, curvaceous in a muscular kind of way. Lithe and svelte looking, with a dangerous grace to her movements, though she generally keeps them under tight control. Long brown hair kept back from her face in a ponytail tied with a silver clasp, and large blue eyes. (Very faint Klingon accented speech) (6’0") WHY CHARACTER JOINED STARFLEET: To learn, and to be a role model, a pioneer, for her people. PERSONAL HISTORY: Born on the Q’oteH IV Annex to parents who believed that the future of the Empire lay with the Federation at a time when such notions were anathema. As a result, the family were ostracized from Klingon society, and eventually exiled into the Cardassian Union. After a year, D’Jenec was approached with an offer from the Klingon High Command - he could come back into the Empire with his family as long as he agreed to have himself and his four children put into the service of the Klingon Defence Force. Seeing how separation from other Klingons was affecting his children, he agreed. His first mission was to be his last - his ship was sent on a suicide mission; a last chance at regaining honour. When the children came of age, they too followed into the Defence Force. K’Teira was already an awesome warrior, having learned not only Klingon battle techniques but Cardassian and others as well, but the stifling, regimented (and stupid - "Hey, let’s go get some honour and die!") life didn’t sit well with her. After two years, she instigated a mutiny aboard her ship (the Captain was incompetent, but the First Officer couldn’t prove it until K’Teira trapped him) and as a "reward" she was booted off at a Klingon trading port, where she had organized to meet the USS Castlemaine to take her on to Earth, where she intended to study Psychology, Anthropology and Sociology. The Federation fascinated her, and she wanted to learn everything she could about its peoples. Over time she also learned she was a great Counsellor as well, and on completing her training, applied and was accepted into Starfleet. During her five years in the Diplomatic Corps, a Klingon man she had known when they were both children tracked her down, and they renewed a relationship. They Mated, and he left his crack squadron to live with her in the Federation. He was safe from retribution until she was re-assigned to Starbase 112 (in the Klingon sector), where he was assassinated. Never quite recovering from the loss, she resolved that she would work in the position she had trained for, and finally was accepted as Counsellor by Captain Randall for the Fairburn. PERSONAL DETAILS:
FAMILY HISTORY:
SECRETS IN BACKGROUND?: She has reasons not to talk about her past - especially the Cardassian year. Why? What happened to her there? And more to the point, what did she learn? FUTURE MILESTONES?: N/A
DETAIL RELATIONSHIPS WITH: Susan Randall: She knows how the Captain is a little apprehensive coming back into the Fleet as she thinks she might not be ready, not to mention the fact she has to cope with motherhood along with the pressures of command. She seeks to help the Captain wherever she can, and enjoys her company. James Grieg: She feels sorry for him and his feelings for her, but she can’t do anything about it; they have to work together; and she really enjoys his company, so encourages the easing into friendship his feelings led back to. She simply isn’t going to allow herself to be sexual with him - if she did, his feelings would become involved, and she doesn’t love him in the way she knows he’d want. He is the only one of the (newly met) crew she can be herself with without the constraints of rank. They are (or will become) great friends. Eden Pendehar: He is one of the ones she is cultivating as her ‘network’, and is also quite a close friend. They have to work quite closely together and so have developed a good working relationship. They respect each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Rell: They hit it off immediately, gently teasing one another and swapping stories. When they’re teasing each other it’s more to see the reactions of others. Elek: She’d like to help Elek cope with both sides of her identity (Romulan nature, Vulcan nurture), introduce her to more of the Romulan culture instead of denying it to herself. They’d do the Mok’bara to help calm and succour Elek’s repressed emotions when the Vulcan meditation techniques aren’t enough, and she would know a myriad of techniques to help Elek cope - not all passive. Ian
Randall: They don’t associate much, but he ribs her - as he ribs everyone
- saying that the only practical use K'Teira would be in his division would
be to give them more swear words to hurl at experiments that are going
wrong!
Matthew Daniels: She knows he is wary of counsellors, and so when he does silly things like patting her head or testing her, she won’t react as either Klingon or Counsellor. She wishes he would grow up, but knows he can’t ever lose his lighter outlook. It’s his coping mechanism. Jedera: They socialize amongst the Regulars and are both interested in "holodecking" as well as the occasional bushwalk; he’d also train with her if she was entering and marathons/Challenges, etc. They often try to get others involved in this - Grieg sometimes does, but the others greet the idea with intense apathy! He’s a learner, so she enjoys learning from him while she’s teaching him. Typical give ‘n’ take friendship, and she loves his love for life. Jondalar Barlok: Someone to walk amongst the trees in the arboretum avoiding projectiles from! They understand each other, for they’re both loners in the Fairburn community and have certain special requirements the general Starfleet community can’t easily provide. They understand and accept the differences between each other and with the rest of everyone else. Lisa Willbanks:
Someone to listen to, someone who needs guidance and teaching to become
a great CMO - she actually feels Lisa is a better doctor than Eden, because
she has a broader knowledge base; but Eden’s a better administrator - Lisa’s
patience only extends to patients, not paperwork! She quietly works on
it, getting Lisa to think about what she’s saying and addressing her attitude
without Lisa being aware of it, she does it so subtly.
Chianeé Deserine: They’ve known each other since K'Teira went to university on Earth. They are great friends and know more about each other than either would care to admit. |
