Besides
the 3 main houses, there are also 5 sub-houses that you can make alliances
with. Each alliance gives you 2 extra units and a building. From the most
useful to the least useful, here are the sub-houses and what they give
you:
THE IXIANS
In
the age of hate towards the "thinking machines", the ixians have kept their
high-tech nature. They are the traditional allies of House Ordos and their
speciality is high-tech weaponry.
|
This is the building that
creates the IX units. You need to upgrade it to produce Projectors.
|
|
The Infiltrator is
great for suicide sabotage operations. It's stealthy and full of explosives.
You can sneak it past enemy defenses and detonate it by deploying it. It
will become visible (and vulnerable) for a few seconds, then it will explode
and cause great damage.
|
|
Some people call this
the most powerful unit in the game. It has a small gun for self-defense
and it's a hover vehicle. When deployed, it can make holographic projections
of any unit on the map. The projections have a limited lifespan. Also,
they dissapear if they sustain any damage or if an enemy unit gets next
to them. But a single Projector can make an infinity of free projections,
and the projections DO REAL DAMAGE!

THE GUILD
The
Guild is a wealthy organization that has a monopoly on interstellar travel.
They seem to have secret ties with the Tleilaxu. The Guid uses Navigators
to fold space-time, so their special units are... interesting.
|
This is the building that
creates the Guild units. You need to upgrade it to produce NIAB Tanks.
|
|
This is the Guild's "infantry".
Makers turn very slowly and can't climb on infantry rock, because of their
mutation. They fire an electric gun that can fry whole legions of infantry
and does moderate damage to vehicles and buildings.
|
|
The NIAB Tank is extremely
powerful, but also very expensive. It fires an electric weapon that is
most effective against buildings. The NIAB Tank's main feature is that
it can teleport. This way a group of these tanks can pop up in the middle
of an enemy base. The only drawback is that after teleporting, the NIAB
Tank needs time to cool down its reactor and it can't move or fire during
this time.
|
THE TLEILAXU
These
people are religious zealots focused on organic technologies. The other
factions view them as "monstrosities". But their face-dancers and ability
to re-animate the dead might prove extemelly powerful.
|
This is the building that
creates the Tleilaxu units. You need to upgrade it to produce Leeches.
|
|
These zombie-like infantry
units are infected with a deadly virus. They "attack" by touching enemy
infantry. The infected infantry will die instantly and turn into another
Contaminator. This way Contaminators can spread death and increase their
numbers.
|
|
The Leech is the Tleilaxu
anti-vehicle unit. It fires larvae that stick to vehicles. The larvae then
eat their way through the vehicle, slowly damaging it. When the vehicle
is destroyed, the larvae mature and turn into another Leech. But before
that, larvae can be removed by Engineers. The best targets for Leeches
are nearly destroyed vehicles.

THE SARDAUKAR
The
Emperor's elite shocktroops, the sardaukar, have lost their leader. The
once powerful and disciplined warriors now live as scattered mercenaries.
But if a new leader would unite them under his control, the sardaukar fanatics
might once again crush their foes with an iron fist.
|
This is the building that
creates the Sardaukar units. You need to upgrade it to produce Elite Sardaukar.
|
|
The Sardaukar are the most
disciplined and powerful soldiers in the Empire. The regular troops carry
deadly machineguns that can cause serious damage to vehicles and infantry
alike. They also have lots of armour.
|
|
The Elite Sardaukar are
the best of the best as far as infantry goes. They have a laser gun good
for destroying vehicles. This accurate laser can also fire at aircraft.
Against infantry, the Elite Sardaukar use their stabbing knife, making
them able to kill any soldier in one hit, but only if they stand right
next to that soldier.
|
THE FREMEN
The
fremen... nothing more than primitive and fanatical sand-dwellers. But
still, they shouldn't be underestimated. They are blood-thirsty natives
of Arrakis. They live to kill and plunder. These barbarians should be exterminated,
as no house leader would ally with them unless he's desperate... or plain
stupid.
|
This is the building that
creates the Fremen units. You need to upgrade it to produce Fedaykins.
|
|
These Warriors are
stealthy snipers. They're good infantry killers... and that's about it.
Find them with Scouts and kill them with Dust Scouts.
|
|
The Fedaykin have
2 purposes, but can only do one thing at a time. Firstly, they have weirding
modules that they use to fire sonic beams. Those beams act like miniature
Sonic Tank blasts, so they can go through their own troops. Secondly, the
Fedaykin can ride sandworms. But calling a worm takes a HUGE time, during
which the Fedaykin can't move or fire. And the worms have a limit on how
many units they can eat.
