Some more Kwisatz Haderach news (at last!) and URL change---------------------Dune news
4th of  may 2002--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --17:00 CET
There's a good reason why I haven't posted anything in 2 months (honest, there is :) )... There were serious FTP problems and I wasn't able to upload anything at all. Even now the FTP isn't working properly, so I'm lucky that I managed to upload even this. I'll soon move my site to a new URL, www.westwoodrts.com (actually it's not new at all - I've used it before, if you remember). But until then, I'm not sure if I'll be able to post anything...

Now onto the x-pack "news". I've received countless emails asking about the release... so I realized that many of you don't know it has been released, or where to download it from. Well, the first version (there will be several new versions in the future) has been released quite a long time ago, and you can download it from here. There's also a patch for it. It fixes some bugs and balance issues.

Emperor x-pack news and domain trouble...----------------------------------------------Dune news
27th of  february 2002---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --20:20 CET
First of all, the expansion pack news: I've just uploaded a screenshot of a Corrino base under attack by the Harkonnen. You can see it here. The mod is done, but there's a rebellious freezing bug that we need to squash before releasing Kwisatz Haderach. Please be patient... ;)

Second, there's a small problem with my domain (www.westwoodrts.com)... Namezero has decided not to support free domain names any more as of  March 1st. I didn't tell you this earlier because I hoped I'd be able to upgrade to their paid service before the deadline, so you wouldn't notice anything. But since I didn't manage to do that, westwoodrts.com won't be active for some time (until I get the money to get it back, which will be sometime in March). Until then, you'll still be able to access my site at the usual address:
http://www.fortunecity.com/underworld/cole/1027/index.htm
That's pretty long, so you'd better bookmark it. :)

Winamp skin and x-pack stuff ----------------------------------------------------------------Dune news
10th of  february 2002---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --23:00 CET
As you might know, I made an Emperor Winamp skin, the only one in existence... And I forgot to upload it to my own site. Bad Edric! :) Well, you can download it now from WWRTS. Click here.

Also, expect to see the x-pack released within a week! Let the fireworks fly!
I've updated the Emperor x-pack page. It now contains info on all the units.

More x-pack news -------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dune news
25th of  january 2002--------------------------------------------------------------------------------17:00 CET
Time sure does fly, doesn't it? I haven't posted any news in... quite a while. :)

Well, there are some problems with the x-pack, because a virus made ghosty lose all the mod files. :(  However, he was able to recover most (but not all) of them. This setback won't delay the release (hopefully), because we already had a margin of error.

The release date of the unofficial Emperor expansion has been set: February 2nd. Also known as DunesDay, because of all the Dune events planned by FED2k on that day. When Mahdi asked me if the release of the x-pack could be delayed until DunesDay (to add one more great event to D-Day), I couldn't say no. ;) As it turns out, this delay was a very good thing, because it gives us time to recover from the virus attack.

In the mean time, take a look at the short intro that ebmonkey made for the x-pack! It will replace the animated EA and Westwood logos. Click here to go to ebmonkey's home page to download the intro. It's only 3.4 Mb
Note to EA/Westwood: The movie does contain your copyright notices.

Server Downtime----------------------------------------------------------------------------------site news
11th of  january 2002--------------------------------------------------------------------------------19:50 CET
Like they say: "When everything's going well, chances are you missed something".
I just received an email from Fortunecity (this site's hosting service) saying that their servers will be down from Sunday, January 13th through Wednesday, January 16th. They are relocating all hosted sites to a new data center. The URLs won't change. They're just doing this move to provide a better hosting service. However, it means that you will be unable to visit this site from Sunday until Wednesday. I'm really sorry, especially since I was looking forward to giving you move info on the Emperor x-pack these days...

And another one! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dune news
8th of  january 2002----------------------------------------------------------------------------------20:05 CET
We have a new x-pack screenshot! This one shows a Corrino Windtrap. Although the mod is progressing well, the beta release will be delayed, for reasons we can't make public. However, I can tell you that the cause of the delay is actually a good thing. I just can't tell you what it is... yet. :)
Btw, I've also done a few minor updates on the x-pack page. Expect me to reveal some more secret units soon!

First screenshot! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dune news

Here it is! The first screenshot from the unofficial Emperor x-pack! Click here to see it. It shows some Ordos D-Troopers in action. Also, I've updated the x-pack page a bit, with 2 new unit descriptions (the Bashar and the Saboteur).

X-pack news-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dune news
4th of  january 2002-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------20:48 CET
The developement of our unofficial Emperor expansion is going well! Expect to see the first beta around January the 13th. Also, I recently updated the x-pack page with the unit descriptions. I still decided to keep some of them secret, though. :)

Cough... cough... ok, now that we got that settled, my master Yuri ordered me to give you some fresh news... fresh from last year, that is. :)

First, Yuri's Revenge got Gamespot's Expansion Pack of the Year (2001) award. Click here to read about it and see YR covered with glory. ;)
Second, the first official YR map pack is available! It contains 2 maps, "Transylvania Trouble" and "Irvine, California". Click here to download!

A very happy Christmas! (and some site news)--------------------------------------------site news
26th of december 2001-------------------------------------------------------------------------------22:00 CET
Merry Christmas! And to the non-christians out there, a very happy >insert holiday name here< !

I know this is the 26th and I'm a day late, but I've been away for Christmas. Besides, just a day before leaving (I left last Sunday), I had to format my HDD because of a virus that had kept me off the computer for over a week.
...and that's why I haven't posted any news in such a long time. Now I have some file recovering to do before starting to post news again.

The sleepers must awaken---------------------------------------------------------------------Dune news
11th of december 2001-------------------------------------------------------------------------------21:25 CET
Announcing... a new Emperor: Battle for Dune mod!! The Sleepers must Awaken - the unofficial Emperor expansion pack. Yeah, I know the name sounds like bragging, but hey, nobody thought of it before! :) This mod is still under developement. The creators are ghostysquare and Edric O (yours truly). Well, most of the credit goes to ghostysquare actually. We want to make a "proffesional" mod - something as similar to a true x-pack as possible. You'll notice that I haven't posted the unit descriptions on the mod webpage, because many of them are still uncertain and will most likely change. The mod has no ETA - yet.

In other news (RA2 community news): RA2 Mod Makers has a new layout, with all new pretty colours. :) (a Yuri colour scheme). They also need staff to help them on the Tech War 2 mod. Head over to the site for more info. And here's the best part - I should have posted about this on Saturday. Bad Edric. ;)
