Would you hold my hand
With a tear in your eye
Preparing to miss me?
As I lie dying
Would your heart start aching
Knowing that I
Would soon be long gone?
As I lie dying
Would you grant me a kiss
To show me you care
Just before I fade away?
As I lie dying
Would you hold me in your arms
My head upon your breast
As life ebbs from my body?
As I lie dying
Would you begin to regret
All of those things
That we never got to do?
As I lie dying
Would you struggle to think
Of all the things left unsaid
Before it was too late?
As I lie dying
Would you do all these things?
And if so, why?
You never did them while I lived
