The Assassin

You slipped through my defenses
Found a way into my heart
I never saw it coming
How you would tear me apart

I thought that I was lucky
Sorrow could be left behind
I thought your love was true
How could I have been so blind?

For you, I left my friends
Giving you my time
I thought that you were loyal
Believing everything to be fine

Then I caught you with another
In another bed you chose to share
How long were you lying to me?
Did you ever truly care?

Sometimes I think of where I went wrong
It seems Cupid aimed and let you in
But you broke a love that once was strong
So I have renamed Cupid - the Assassin
