Rodelyn woke up early. The suns rays had yet begun to stream through her window but she could see a faint light. The alarm clock lay sleeping, not quite time for its morning performance. She got out of the bed and walked around turning on light after light. The apartment was a bit eerie this early in the morning. The pot of coffee was started and she quickly took a shower stepping out into the alluring smell of freshly brewed coffee. It was barely 5:30 and although she'd set her alarm clock for 6:00 she just couldn't sleep a minute more. Today was the first day of the rest of her life. Today was the day that she would no longer wonder where she was going in life, because she knew. She was starting her new job as a Child Psychology Assistant in a prestigious Boston firm. Just the week before she'd relocated out of New Jersey and found herself a nice 2 bedroom apartment in Brookline where she could just hop on the T and take a straight shot to the office. A car was her next goal. She was so wired she didn't need that pot of coffee that was perking, but she took a cup anyway. When she'd visited the office over a month ago the staff impressed her. Their demeanor with the children and the fact that the director had loved her ideas and intelligence she saw from her application. This was the first time in her life that she'd ever felt so free and so optimistic. She'd grown up as a happy child always the center of everyone's affection. At school she was forever in plays, sports, cheerleading, you name it, Rod had done it. Not until after she graduated that real life came out and kicked her in the butt. Her boyfriend of 3 years cheated on her during their sophomore year in college. Instead of showing the pain she started dating a few guys, all, or most of them ended up hurting her in many ways. Her last boyfriend she had truly been in love with, but he couldn't handle the fact that she wanted to pursue her dreams and the only way she could was to move out of her Jersey town, now she was once again alone. The solution to all of the hurt and pain.... close her heart. She'd decided to give full attention to her career. Love was a nuisance to her and she'd much rather do without. Jordan slammed his alarm clock down. "Damn" he said and rolled over. He'd forgot to turn it off. He didn't need to be anywhere at any time soon and he was going to rest if it killed him. He'd just finished a summer tour and he had completely forgot how draining it could be to be on the road day in and day out, and he was just an opening act. "I'm too old for this." He moaned. Now there was talk in the works about is own tour. Outwardly he was just as enthused as everyone else, but inside he was screaming no. He loved his fans, and he loved to sing and perform but the thought of being on stage for 2 hours or more a night and then rolling to another city and doing the same thing again for more than 3 months scared him. He was almost 30 and sometimes he thought about the road his life was taking him and the road that he wanted to take his life. It would seem to everyone else that Jordan just wanted to sing and be famous, but what Jordan really wanted was to find that special someone, settle down and be part of his own family. Feedback?
